Finally: Britney Spears is allowed to speak for herself in court

Britney Spears
Still a bit of the moment we've all been waiting for. At least, if you pay a little attention to the ongoing lawsuit between Britney Spears and her father. And of course with the videos that the singer posts on Insta, in which she insists that she is really doing very well... I don't think we completely believe her.

This lawsuit has been going on for quite a while, with Britney hoping to regain some control over her life. To recap: Britney is under the guardianship of her father, which broadly means he has all the control over her actions and decisions. So her money. Spontaneously getting coffee at Starbucks? First ask dad. Finding a cleaner for the house? First consult with dad if he wants to give money for his daughter. Performing in Las Vegas? That's decided by dad; he also manages her schedule. Yes, it's very intense and especially very serious.

So far, it has been a battle in the courtroom between the lawyers. However, Britney's lawyer pointed out in court this week that his client would like to address the court herself. And that is going to happen: on June 23, Britney will appear in court.

What Britney wants to say exactly has not been disclosed by her lawyer, and to be honest, I have no idea how the American legal process works. Shouldn't it be announced in advance or could it be that it will be a surprise for everyone what Britney comes up with, the first time she speaks for herself? In any case, there is urgency: the lawyer asked if it could be done as soon as possible. That means in the American court within thirty days, and thus June 23 became the date.

I am really so curious if we will finally hear how Britney really feels. Because even though she claims on Insta that everything is really totally A-Okay and she is super happy; no one really believes that, right? It's logical too, because how can you be completely happy when you are not autonomous in any way? #FreeBritney is still going strong, and hopefully, this year there will finally be an end to this case. With Britney coming out as the winner, of course.
