Ghislaine Maxwell update
Ghislaine Maxwell, the literal partner in crime of the late Jeffrey Epstein who recruited underage girls for him and his dirty friends, has been in a high-security prison in New York for almost a year (after she was suddenly arrested last year) . Although she is not exactly enjoying it there (admittedly: the stay in a cell of 2 by 1.85 meters with a concrete bed is quite far from a life where you hop from the Maldives to Paris and Miami by jet), the chance that she will have to consider this place her ‘home’ for the time being is quite large since a fresh charge has been added to the already considerable list. Again, an underage girl that she allegedly recruited and was prepared for sex with Epstein and his associates.
Just an update.
1. Bail requests
Ghislaine Maxwell has requested three times to wait for the verdict at home, as that prison is ‘inhumane’. She is said to be woken up every quarter hour to check if she is still alive (a not illogical consequence since they want to do everything to prevent her, like Epstein, from committing suicide), furthermore, she is only allowed to use her own laptop on weekdays and has to make do with the prison computers on other days which, according to her lawyer, are so slow that she cannot properly prepare for her case because she cannot read all the documents well. She is said to have lost weight, cannot sleep, and is experiencing hair loss. I try to suppress the sentence ‘how do you think the lives of your victims have been over the past years?’ I am not succeeding.
2. Additional charge
Meanwhile, there are four official charges against her of ‘sex trafficking’ of underage girls. Since a fourth case has just been added, it could be that the trial scheduled for July will be postponed.
3. Loving husband
In the meantime, Ghislaine has gotten married and her husband does not recognize his wife in any of the accusations and says that Ghislaine is a loving person. Time to take off the rose-colored glasses, buddy. Maybe he should watch the documentary Filthy Rich.
4. Loving brother
Fortunately for Ghislaine, there are people who have her best interests at heart. Her brother is also advocating for a more humane treatment than she is currently receiving at the Metropolitan Detention Center, as it would be inhumane. I am very curious what label her brother puts on the trafficking and abuse of underage girls. Is that humane?
Anyway, Ghislaine remains where she is, the list of charges is growing. Just like our hope for justice.
