OMG May drinks the same wine as Madonna and Lady Gaga

May with a glass of wine on a terrace

I already knew about Madonna. I always bought Pietra Bianca in Puglia and later read that this was Madonna's favorite wine. Once, when we had lunch at a bucket list hotel, I saw Pietra Bianca on the menu and smugly told the waiter that this was Madonna's favorite, and he confirmed it. “She celebrated her birthday here last year.” Then I knew it was really true.

Now, last week I was doing research for an article about the sometimes somewhat quirky demands of celebrities. Secretly, I didn't find the demands that strange (that probably says a lot about me) and in the meantime, I googled the wishlist of the VIPs. I didn't know the brand of scented candles that Alicia Keys prefers in her room (Glade) and I was very curious about the scents French Vanilla, Rain Shower, and Wild Berry.

When I went through Lady Gaga's demands (a personal smoothie bar with fresh fruit, yogurt, and of course a blender), I saw that she also likes to have a few bottles of Chardonnay chilled. I understand that, because people with a high IQ prefer to drink wine. And a white wine opener, that too. Now I want to tell Lady Gaga that a white wine opener works basically the same as a red wine opener, but that's beside the point. There was an addition. If you really wanted to score points, there was a bottle of Kendall Jackson or Robert Mondavi. So I continued my digital treasure hunt.

Now you should know that my favorite wine is the Californian J. Lohr. When I recently ordered it from a really nice online wine shop , the shopkeeper called me to say that the J. Lohr was indeed out of stock, but that he had an even better variant from the same estate that he would gladly offer me for the price of the J. Lohr. You guessed it: the Kendall Jackson. To be honest, I had forgotten the name, but when I saw the label, I knew: I have that wine in my cupboard too.

It's just that Lady Gaga and Madonna are not exactly besties forever, because oh, what a fun evening we could have with our wines.
