The British press is certain: Meghan is telling lies in the interview

Well, you know what they say: there’s two sides to every story. So yes, also in the case of Harry and Meghan versus The British Royal Family. What the real truth is, we will probably never fully find out. The interview that took place last night with Oprah Winfrey stirred quite a bit before it was even broadcast. The Firm, The Institute — whatever you call it — was quite concerned: would they seriously air dirty laundry?
So it seems that the counterattack was already initiated earlier. On Saturday, Buckingham Palace announced it would conduct an internal investigation following allegations against Meghan Markle. She is said to have bullied her staff. Notable timing to release this information, a day before the interview airs.
Even more striking is that it seems Meghan herself is not involved in these investigations. So whether there will actually be a right of reply remains to be seen. It does look like the (counter)attack has been launched against Meghan Markle, and to a lesser extent against her husband Harry.
And because of yesterday's interview, that will only increase. The British tabloids and many people on the internet are not holding back on Meghan's statements to Oprah. It is often said ‘that she is an actress’, so that this is just another role she is playing.
Admittedly: a few statements she made last night seem not entirely based on truth. For instance, she confided in Oprah that the British royals had advised her to perhaps continue acting, because there wouldn't be enough money to take care of her as well. Now that is certainly not true, because if there is one thing you don't have to worry about, it's the fact that the royals are quite comfortable.
That would mean that this was said purely to hurt and exclude her. Which of course can happen, but the British tabloids and media do not believe that and see it as one of many attempts to tarnish the monarchy.
Meghan Markle also said in the interview that their ‘real’ wedding took place three days before the media spectacle, somewhere outside. Small detail: outdoor weddings are not legally binding in England. So either the law does not apply to them because they are royals, or something is not right about the story. The British tabloids have already concluded — not surprisingly — that this is an attempt by Meghan to convey that she does not care about all that luxury, money, and excessive media attention. That she is actually a woman who does not need that and is content with a ceremony that consists only of her and Harry.
Could that have been a lie? According to the British media, the entire interview is full of lies. For instance, Meghan claims that she has never Googled Harry and knew almost nothing about his family. Now this is the only lie that also seems strong to me, as everyone I know does quite a bit of online research on every Tinder date, let alone when you meet a literal prince. But well, it could be true.
Then the last point: the whole reason they sat down with Oprah. Will it really revolve around money? Reportedly, they received between 7 and 9 million (!) dollars for it. They went to America to lead a quieter and more anonymous life, so this indeed seems like a striking choice — Oprah is not exactly about keeping a low profile. And if a sum of this magnitude is involved, it may not be surprising that people start to doubt the sincerity and the thought behind this tell-all interview.
Harry doesn't come off well either, by the way. Royal insiders find it unacceptable how he spoke about his relationship with William and father Charles. Especially regarding his brother; because of the statements he made in a TV interview, many people feel that it is Harry who has permanently damaged their relationship. Additionally, it doesn't sit well that Harry admitted that if Meghan hadn't been there, he would never have left the royal family. Mark my words: they will not take this kindly (but ultimately Meghan will probably come out as the worst here as well).
The end of this feud seems far from in sight. On the contrary: it seems to have just really begun. How it really is, we will never fully know, but if both parties keep airing their dirty laundry, we might get a slightly better picture. But what is actually true...
