The sorrow of Joe Biden

Nothing is what it seems. And every house has its cross, to pull a cliché out of the closet. So too our Joe Biden, the cheerful president of America, who radiates sunshine with his cheerful wife Jill. But he had his share of losing, as you can read in the autobiography of his son Hunter Biden: Beautiful Things. A selection.

1.  Joe Biden lost his wife Neilia Hunter Biden in a car accident. Neila, who was also a teacher like Jill, passed away along with their one-year-old daughter Naomi.

2. Beau Biden, Joe's other son, died at the age of 49 from cancer. Beau was, by the way, a dear friend of Kamala Harris.

3. Hunter Biden, Joe's other son, struggled for years with alcohol and drugs, as he describes in his book (which is actually praised by Stephen King, who wrote a blurb)

4. Ashley Biden, the only daughter of Joe and Jill, has been arrested a few times (once for insulting a police officer, once for possession of marijuana) and there was a time a video circulated showing her snorting cocaine, but otherwise she lives a fairly proper life. Married to a plastic surgeon and herself a social worker who launched a clothing line a few years ago during New York Fashion Week.
