The supermarket is the place to find a date

What a time to be alive. In the past, you would end up at the Bubbels in Amsterdam to be sure of some outrageous flirting, nowadays you have to be at the Coop on Eerste Jan Steenstraat, according to research from dating app Happn.
Now that bars, clubs, and carnival are also not an option in 2021, singles (and probably also some less single subjects) are looking for their fortune elsewhere. The most sexy spot for some innocent flirting is (drumroll): the supermarket. But of course: no one goes anywhere where you might have a chance of a date. Certainly not with the one-person visit rule.
How does Happn know this? From the activity that takes place at these locations in the app. That nice man or woman by the apples is probably not checking off a shopping list at all, but is looking to see if there’s a potential date in the supermarket to have a drink with. The activity in the app actually increases the closer you get to the center of Amsterdam. Then you know where to be. The peak of flirting clearly occurs on Sunday at the end of the afternoon.
Good locations where you have a better chance of a date: the AH’s at Cornelis Troostplein and Elandsgracht, but also those on Overtoom and Dirk in Warmoesstraat. Although I guess other supermarkets and cities are also doing well.
PS: Also read at our neighbors from FavorFlav how you can stay in a supermarket as long as possible. Then you can flirt and swipe for two whole shopping rounds.
