Everything you want to know about the Brit Awards 2022

The Brit Awards 2022 were yesterday and they did write a bit of history. Not because of the surprising winners (because to be honest: we mostly saw them coming), but because of the new approach. This year there were no longer categories specifically for men and separately for women, no, everything was merged. In addition, they also had more categories than in previous years; no less than fifteen awards were presented yesterday.
The big winner of the evening was undoubtedly Adele, who was nominated in four categories and managed to take home three awards. This also meant that she had to give a thank-you speech three times, and there was quite a bit of criticism about that. Well, the internet can sometimes just be a sour place and people always want to complain a bit.
When the singer came to collect her award for Album of the Year, she said in her speech that she was very proud of herself for staying true to herself and releasing an album (she won with her album ‘30’) that was very personal; something that few people do these days. And it was precisely that last sentence that people found unnecessary and a bit arrogant. Oh well, there's always something.
The best international artist was Billie Eilish (rightly so, although as a Taylor Swift fan I am a bit disappointed that she didn't win), Olivia Rodrigo had the best song (not with Drivers License, but with Good 4 U) and Ed Sheeran completely missed out on all the awards but at the last minute still received the award for Songwriter of the Year.
Mean guess: they definitely created this category especially for him, since Ed Sheeran was also going to perform and it would look quite awkward if he didn't take home any awards. And thank goodness he performed, because now I can't get Bad Habits out of my head all day. It's a great song.
And the people who returned disappointed from Las Vegas because Adele had to cancel last minute hopefully managed to get a ticket for the Brit Awards. Because yes: Adele also sang a song. And my god, she looked stunning. That eyeliner of hers, who can teach me that? Iconic. Just like the title of the song she sang: I Drink Wine. I can completely relate to that.
