The Real Housewives of Amsterdam: coming soon on Videoland
Okay, okay, okay, something new is coming to Videoland and I really didn't see this coming. A new variant of The Real Housewives is coming, which is all about Housewives in our own capital. Yes, The Real Housewives of Amsterdam will be coming to Videoland this fall. Now, I am really a huge fan of the Housewives series (mainly the one from Beverly Hills), which are all available on the streaming service Hayu. My first question was: why this one on Videoland? But well, by now I have all possible subscriptions to any streaming service in my pocket, so I can watch it anyway.
Who will be the housewives in glitz ’n glamour Amsterdam? Djamila Celina, Sheila Jessica, Susanna Klibansky, Maria Tailor, Hella Huizinga, Cherry Ann, and Kimmy Lien. I must honestly admit that I have only heard of Maria Tailor and Hella Huizinga, but that doesn't really matter. The Real Housewives is mainly about drama. Over-the-top luxury vacations. Dinner parties without a reason. Women living in the most bizarre, large villas. Women who take a glam squad with them for hair and makeup wherever they go.
And that is exactly why I am a bit apprehensive about this series. Because everything that The Real Housewives (for me) is about, is not really found in the Netherlands, right? Sure, the Oud-Zuid crowd is doing just fine, but this is not Beverly Hills or Manhattan. And for all the ridiculous drama, we are just too down-to-earth here. Unless it has to be partially scripted (which I fear), like the beautiful 020Zuid that we got in 2013. How brilliant was that?!
We will have to wait until this fall to see how this turns out. And apprehensive or not: I will definitely binge-watch this in one day. Looking forward to it, for sure. The more outrageous, the better.
