Whut: Lays now has saté chips

Say wine, snacks or haute cuisine and the gourmands at online food magazine FavorFlav know where to drink, how to eat it and what to cook. This time our cheffies serve you: new chip flavors from Lay’s.

My whole life I have never really been a sweet tooth. I was never really interested in candy, but chips on the other hand, I could easily finish a bag. That is an underrated talent that I still possess, by the way. And seeing these two new flavors from Lay’s, that will definitely continue for a while.

Because yes, two new flavors are coming to the market soon and I am really extremely excited about one in particular. I am a bit hesitant about the other, but of course we will try that too. What are the flavors?

French Fries with Mayo and French Fries with Satay Sauce
Earlier I mentioned (I see it as a hard fact) that everything tastes better with satay sauce, so it’s actually very strange that this flavor didn’t exist yet. It can’t be anything other than really delicious, right? The only thing that could ruin it is if it mainly tastes like peanuts and not that delicious, authentic satay flavor. But I have good hope. Of course, this involves hours, days, weeks of research and testing, so the final product will really be *Chef’s Kiss*. This will be good.

I am a bit more skeptical about the French Fries with Mayo, to be honest. Because while I find satay sauce in itself really enjoyable, I would never just eat a dollop of mayonnaise. Mayonnaise on its own without anything is just not that tasty, so does that work with chips? I’m curious.

Hey Lay’s, now that I’m at it...
Why do you put so much effort into new types when you have really delicious flavors lying around at the Lay’s Graveyard? For example, the black bag Lay’s Barbecue, available in almost all countries except the Netherlands – how is that possible?! I seriously emailed Lay’s about this and I got a negative response back; it doesn’t look like we will find this in the Appie anytime soon.

But one that I also found so delicious back in the day was the Cream & Chives. Let me refresh your memory: that was from the advertisement with Marco Borsato from 1999. Most delicious. EVER.
