These are the most remarkable diet tips I have ever heard

Diet tips and secrets to a ‘balanced’ life, we are bombarded with them. One moment all TikTokers are massively drinking a shot of olive oil in the morning and less than a week later you are actually getting 'fat' from this stuff and you might as well use as little of it as possible. All those different and especially contradictory theories about losing weight: it's enough to drive you crazy. all TikTokers  massively a shot of olive oil in the morning and less than a week later you are actually getting ‘fat’ from this stuff and you might as well use as little of it as possible. All those different and especially contradictory theories about losing weight: it's enough to drive you crazy.

Okay, let me start by saying that I am absolutely not a fan of crash diets, cures, and everything that doesn't feel quite ‘right’ to me. Still, it seemed amusing to me to mention the most remarkable diet tips. Maybe it works like a charm for some – I absolutely won't interfere with that – but I think I believe differently about it.

1. The Breatharian lifestyle
The ‘Breatharians’ are convinced that you actually don't need any food at all, but that breathing air is more than enough to survive. They live on prana, or in other words: life air. Well, this doesn't seem like the nicest and healthiest method to a balanced life.

2. Replacing potatoes with sweet potatoes
Suddenly we all started replacing the old-fashioned potato with the sweet variant. The sweet potato was said to be healthier and contain less fat. Without even looking into this further, we all jumped on this trend. What turned out in the end? It really doesn't matter, because the sweet potato actually contains more calories. The only real difference between the two is the taste.

3. The maple syrup diet
We all probably have a bottle of maple syrup in the cupboard, I do too. This sugar substitute (which mainly contains sugars) is delicious over pancakes or in yogurt. But apparently, this syrup is also used for a crash diet, in combination with lemon juice and cayenne pepper. The hype around this diet originated from none other than Beyoncé, who mentioned in an interview that she did this to lose weight quickly. During this diet, you replace one or more meals a day with this drink. Well, losing weight through super sweet syrup? Just like with all crash diets, you will most likely lose weight because you simply consume fewer calories than you burn.

4. Drinking clay
Drinking a glass of clay twice a day for three weeks sounds like a total nightmare. Yet Rens Kroes recommended this to her followers, as the clay was said to be the perfect way to cleanse your body. However, scientists thought differently about this. So it's somewhat justified that she received a lot of criticism for this.

5. Detox tea
I admit that I used to be very easily swayed by this kind of nonsense. Years ago, I ordered the Fit Tea that you saw everywhere on social media. According to the founders, the ingredients in this tea would cleanse your body and help you lose weight. The result after drinking countless cups? Mostly spending a lot of time in the bathroom. Not exactly a recommendation.

6. Fat burners
Just like detox tea, there are also hundreds of different types of ‘fat burners’ available. I have never used these myself, but I know from people who have tried them that they mainly experienced heart palpitations. Well, with all that stress, you will undoubtedly lose some weight. But is it healthy? I fear not.

7. Lollipop
Our Kim Kardashian was once busy promoting a lollipop that would suppress your appetite. The lollipop contained a magical ingredient: satiereal, an extract that makes your hunger disappear. Kim shared a picture with the lollipop on Instagram and mentioned that the first 500 people would receive a fifteen percent discount. You guessed it: Kim received a lot of criticism and deleted her post from Instagram.
