Wieke at Sandals Resort South Coast in Jamaica

The best part of traveling for me is when a destination truly surprises you. I experienced that with my last trip to Jamaica. An island that I didn't have many expectations of beforehand, except that it would be sunny and that I would probably hear quite a few songs by Bob Marley. Well, those two things were indeed true, but in addition, it surprised me so positively that I'm already thinking about when I can go back.

A good start is half the battle, especially with vacations, so I always find a pleasant accommodation very important. I don't really swim in the sea (I blame my serious phobia of fish for that), so a pool is really a must for me when I'm on vacation. Well, I was really taken by surprise at Sandals South Coast with my nose in the butter: gi-gantic pools, and a lot of them too. Those lovely sunbeds half in the water, lots of mats in the water, and also lovely beds on the shore. If you want to swim in the sea, that's also very possible, because the beach here is really long.

Now I was lucky that before I stayed at the Sandals resort, I was at their Royal Caribbean location. I was really curious about what my ultimate favorite would be, but seriously: I can't choose. The food is so delicious everywhere, but South Coast might have a slight edge because they also have a sushi restaurant here. And a pizzeria.

Like all Sandals resorts, this one is also adult only (love it). Definitely keep an eye on the agenda: on some evenings there are silent disco nights and other fun things. And definitely stop by the Red Lane Spa, because that massage I got there was truly divine. Their products are also in the room, and normally I'm never really a fan of hotel shampoos, but these were next level. Plus point.
