Wow: Zac Efron is unrecognizable

Ehh, hello? Earth to Zac Efron? Troy Bolton? Are we in contact? With those beautiful blue eyes. The only nice thing about the Baywatch remake. Yes, I think you know exactly who I mean and there's a good chance you find him just as handsome as I do and like about half the world. That Zac Efron, yes. Well, he is now completely unrecognizable. It seems to be for his new movie Gold, a thriller that will be in theaters starting March. If this is his look from now on, then I indeed find that a very scary thriller.

Zac himself shared a video of the shoot on his Instagram, in which his new look plus beard and a suntanned skin fortunately look a lot less scary than in the movie itself. First thought: he looks a bit like Christian Bale in this interview, and I don't find that a big problem. Fun detail, by the way: Zac Efron currently resides in Australia, where he had a girlfriend for a while. He is now living as a bachelor again, but he still has his heart lost to The Land Down Under.

Okay, now of course the big question: what is Gold about? It takes place in a dystopian version of the future, where two men find a gigantic lump of gold in the desert. They try to pry the lump loose from the ground, but they don't have the right equipment for that. Therefore, one of them leaves to get the right tools. The other, played by Efron, stays with the gold to guard it. That sounds easier than it turns out to be, because Efron faces terrible storms, drought, animals, without food and water, and can only communicate very occasionally with his radio.

If I see it this way, it will be a movie in which we will mainly see Zac Efron, à la Ryan Reynolds in Buried. Below is the trailer. I have actually become quite curious about it. And then just immediately watch High School Musical to realize again how bizarrely handsome Zac Efron is. Great plan.
