Brad Pitt is trending on Twitter

Last Thursday was the 80th edition of the Golden Globes, you can't have missed it – it has been one of the most important nights for anyone who means anything in the film industry for years. This year, Jennifer Coolidge's brilliant speech went completely viral, as she (rightly so in my opinion, she played it so well) received an award for her role in The White Lotus.

But after Tuesday, it's Brad Pitt that many are talking about: last night he was trending on Twitter for hours. And that was for a bizarre, grim reason. The actor was also present at the Golden Globes and it seems that his popularity is unbreakable. Actress Margot Robbie even said that she improvised a kiss with Brad Pitt in their new film Babylon, she wanted a kiss from the actor so badly. Resourceful, for sure, but that action can expect a lot of misunderstanding from viewers at home.

Because however beloved Brad is in the industry, people at home are done with him. ‘Brad Pitt is an abuser’ was trending last night: people are angry because he is only praised, while it is documented that he has abused his children (the infamous plane incident), and according to ex-wife Angelina Jolie, he hasn't always behaved well towards her either.

‘Brad Pitt is an abuser and none of his older children (the ones not legally obligated to) speak to him which should be very telling to all of you but Hollywood gonna Hollywood,’ someone wrote on Twitter with the hashtag #BradPittIsAnAbuser. ‘The fact that they’re willing to throw away fucking Angelina Jolie over this man shows that no matter how mediocre a man is, as long as he was hot 25 years ago, he will always be put on a pedestal. Absolutely shameful,’ wrote another. 

They base this on the FBI documents that were recently made public, just like Angelina Jolie openly wondered why the police didn't arrest Brad immediately at the plane.

However, Hollywood wants to hear nothing about this; Austin Butler thanked him in his speech on Tuesday night and actress Regina Hall described herself as ‘Mrs. Pitt’. Quite striking in a time when abusers are more in the news than ever. Will that also happen with Brad?
