Why you want to go on vacation to Lanzarote this fall

Sometimes you just need a vacation where you don't do much besides eating, sunbathing, swimming, and eating again. Better said: absolutely nothing. I just had such a lazy vacation. Together with my mother, I spent seven days lying under the scorching sun in Lanzarote. Once home, five foundation shades and four books later, I can confidently say that this is the ultimate place to become completely zen. Why? You can read about it below.
Lovely beaches
Oh, how I enjoyed the beach there. Clear water, sand, plenty of sunbeds, and not a gram of trash in sight. Every minute, a gentleman would come by with a cooler in hand asking if you wanted a cola zero for less than two euros. Because what’s better than an ice-cold cola at 30 degrees on the beach? Indeed: nothing at all. Besides all the sandy beaches, there are also plenty of beautiful coves where all the locals can be found. A sunbed is often hard to come by here, but if you're content with just a towel, I definitely recommend this.
Almost always reliable
While you can sometimes have a setback with the weather in Spain, in Lanzarote it’s much more certain. It’s pleasant all year round, even in winter with an average of about 20 degrees. In summer, it gets quite hot with an average of 30 degrees on the clock, but because it’s a relatively flat island, you get enough wind. This way, you can at least last a lot longer on your towel.
High UV index
You have to love baking in the sun. But if, like me, you’re not averse to a tan, there is absolutely no shortage of vitamin D in Lanzarote. Hallelujah, you get so brown here, I tell you. Almost crispy brown. I've never had to apply so much factor 50 in my life, but then you do have something.
Surprisingly nice shops
Yep, shopping works for me as therapy, so I went all out in the evenings. And to my surprise, there are plenty of nice shops here: Zara (which happened to be just a five-minute walk from me), Mango, Oysho, and Pull & Bear, for example. But there are also more upscale shops where I tried on the entire new collection from Ganni and had to hang it back with a heavy heart. So you can definitely spend money here.
Plenty to experience
Just because I may not have done much doesn’t mean there’s nothing to do at all. On the contrary: there’s plenty to experience. Volcanoes, lava beaches, craters, you name it. The island also has several nature parks and protected areas you can visit. It’s really a shame that I didn’t go there, I realize now in hindsight. The only volcano I saw was from my sunbed by the sea.
