How unhealthy is not having sex?

Not having sex

Do you now have an impressive collection of points? There is of course nothing wrong with that if you feel comfortable with it. Even though sex can also be very good for your health: it is good for your immunity, your skin and your mental health, to name just a few things. But does that mean that not having sex is actually unhealthy for you? Two sexologists explain exactly how it is.

It is striking that not much research has been done on this. We now know about the many benefits of having sex, but research on the lack of it has been done very little. The studies that have been conducted all had the same result. Not having sex is indeed bad for you, at least if you are a man.

For example, men would get prostate cancer less often if they have an ejaculation more frequently. Side note: you can of course also have an ejaculation through solo sex, so this research is not necessarily about sex with others. And that is emphasized by the sexologists to the AD, who spoke with them about this topic: ‘Solo sex is also sex. Purely physically, being with two is not healthier than being alone.’

And for women? No evidence has been found that not having sex would have disadvantages for your health. So if you want to live happily celibate and save points: go for it. And otherwise, you always have yourself.
