We thought Kanye West and Sofia Richie were pulling everything out of the hat to scratch everyone's eyeballs with jealousy, their weddings pale in comparison to a Monday morning at nine o'clock when you look at this marriage. On November 18, they got married Madelaine Brockway (26) to Jacob LaGrone (3, that's a joke) in Paris.
She is the daughter of the owner of the parent company under which Mercedes falls among others, and he seems to have been raised with caviar and champagne. Money must roll is like the good billionaire kids' motto, so tons were thrown around. The rehearsal dinner was at the Palais Garnier (also known as the Opéra), a night’s sleep in the Palace of Versailles, a private lunch at Chanel, a couture wedding dress from Dior, the wedding ceremony at Château de Vilette. The singer of Maroon 5 performed at their afterparty in a black greenhouse on the grounds where a nightclub setting was created and where all the feet in Manolo Blahniks hit the dance floor.

I listened this morning to the podcast of Aaf Brandt Corstius and Lies Visschedijk in which Lies talked about her marriage, long long ago. Monday morning at nine o'clock and cycling through Amsterdam. By the way, she was proposed to via text message and replied with ‘hmm hmm’, so the romance wasn't exactly crackling around. Tjitske whistled the tune of Turkish Delight the whole way and the party was in a friend's gallery, who lived in a squatted building. As a gift, everyone was asked to bring a cake, because they didn't have much money. Her husband and she just saw how her mother-in-law plucked the bride and groom figurine from the profiteroles cake to quickly position it on her own apple pie. I would almost like to ask if someone would want to translate Lies and Aaf's podcast into English and let Madelaine and Jacob hear it. Not that they should have done it that way, everyone has their own thing, everyone has their own marriage, but just, for the much-needed balance in life.
