A word about MAFS NL

There are a thousand things we can discuss about last night's MAFS broadcast. Like Paula's parents, of course, who according to a nice Twitter user were briefly mistaken for a reincarnation of Van Kooten and De Bie. How delightful was the scene in which Paula's mother presents her future son-in-law with some devilish dilemmas? Ajax or Feyenoord, Citroën or BMW, pasta or fries, André Hazes or Andre Rieu. I read on Twitter that someone thought the person who chooses the music for Married at First Sight should get a raise. Well, the editor who suggested this conversation topic to Paula's mother (‘dilemmas, always breaks the ice’) deserves a statue.

Oh, and the look on Paula's mother's face when she hears that Paula might want to get married in white. ‘She's not twenty anymore, you know?’). I would bet all my savings that dad and mom Paula have matching bike bags.

But the talk of the day is of course Nicole and Martijn. On the surface, a really nice couple, I understand the match, but this went completely wrong. Apparently, she was derogatory about Eindhoven, he thinks she doesn't talk. There was a situation around the pool water and when Martijn said in the car that Nicole wasn't his type, she pulled the handbrake. Literally. And then it went wrong. ‘Good morning.’ ‘Uh, not good morning. Just: morning,’ Nicole snapped at Martijn. Like a couple of naughty children, they sat on the snow-white leather couch of the hotel (I could just see a Buddha statue in the corner, it was exactly how I wanted it) while the reporter asked them how it all came to this. A fourth-year psychology student without a thesis topic has now immediately found one. Nicole's body posture, Martijn's exaggerated relaxedness (‘I was also wrong, let's start over. Let's not bring up examples because then it becomes a yes-no situation’) and Nicole who keeps crossing her arms tighter and of course storms off angrily wishing Martijn a nice trip back.

I never expected to say this, but I'm going to watch ahead on Videoland tonight to see how it ends.

I'm borrowing a brilliant Twitter suggestion. Call it a small tribute to Paula's mother and a conversation starter for Martijn and Nicole.
