Today we go: to The Amsterdam Summer

By
De Amsterdamse Zomer

Tonight I'm going out for a bit. One of my ultimate guilty pleasures remains Dutch music, especially singing along to it. During my heartbreak era, I would always sing Jij Liet Me Vallen by Tino Martin with karaoke (I'm such a sensitive girl), but the earlier songs of André Hazes sr. still go down well. So you understand where I'll be tonight: at De Amsterdamse Zomer in the Olympic Stadium. There are concerts tonight and tomorrow night, and yes, there are still tickets. If you hear someone singing loudly (and off-key, especially that, I fear) from the audience tonight, there's a good chance it's me. So do wave.

During corona, these events were already happening, and I couldn't go every time. Luckily, 90 percent of my Instagram did go, and I was continuously teased with all kinds of Stories about what I had missed. Therefore, I marked this edition well in advance in my calendar, so I wouldn't accidentally make double appointments. Added bonus: corona is no more, so it's even fuller and therefore even more fun. But the biggest plus might be that the sun is shining again after a rather dreary week, which means a sunny Friday afternoon drink. My tip: get a Garden Spritz at the CHANDON stand, because that's really the ultimate summer drink. You won't regret it.

So this will be my chance to sing Jij Liet Me Vallen live, because Tino Martin is in attendance. But Kris Kross Amsterdam, Rolf Sanchez, André Hazes, and Jan Smit will be there too. A top Dutch party, exactly what I'm in the mood for. Have a nice weekend, and maybe see you tonight.
