“Mom, are we going on Saturday?” My daughter on the app. I reply that I have tickets for Saturday the 16th. “But then I can still go on Saturday, right?” My daughter is not easily fooled. I text back; That’s possible, but it’s not open yet.

Moral of this short story: we can’t wait for the Amsterdam Winter Parade to open on December 14. Because that’s Christmas and celebration elevated to the highest fun. A Rudolf-the-reindeer carousel, a Ferris wheel overlooking the city, an ice skating and curling rink, an ice racing course, a lights paradise, a silent kid après-ski (silent disco for kids), performances by Emma Heesters, Tino Martin, Xander de Buisonjé, Snelle, a winter circus, the Coca-Cola truck (how fun for your Insta and TikTok) and then there are all sorts of different food stalls.

It’s really the most fun event for families, groups of friends, outings with your work or dates. I’m going with my girls. Already looking forward to it.
