The wedding of the year
The great and so deserved happiness of Chantal Bles and Robert Doornbos

You must have been locked up in a basement if you don't know that Chantal Bles and Robert Doornbos have had a tough time. In 2013, they had to terminate the pregnancy of their unborn child because their little girl had severe multiple abnormalities and would have no chance of survival. After the birth, she passed away in their arms. You would think that a person has experienced enough suffering by then, but it continued. Not long after, it turned out that their daughter Jada had kidney cancer with metastases. On Instagram, Chantal shared the moments of happiness and the fears they had as parents. It was touching to see how the whole family rallied for Jada and for the Princess Máxima Center. Cousin Nicolette van Dam and her husband Bas Smit rolled out one action after another to raise money for the good cause. When Jada was cancer-free, it seemed as if a sigh of happiness went through her followers.

Just before the most beautiful day of their lives arrived, the news broke that Robert had been attacked with bats a month earlier to relieve him of his precious watch. I don't think there are two people who deserved marital happiness more than these two this weekend. In a beautiful dress by Jenny Packham, with her lovely mother as a witness, little son Josh signing the witness book (children cannot officially witness, but they can sign), and the most beautifully styled tables by Rutger M. Flowers, this was already for us the wedding of the year.

May they live long, and may everything that starts with a ‘k’ stay away from them.
