‘Night train from Amsterdam to Barcelona is finally arriving’

Traveling by train is the most fun thing there is for me. And I don't mean taking the Sprinter from Amsterdam to Utrecht, but really traveling: for example, the Eurostar to London, which I will be taking soon. I can already look forward to that; arriving with your little suitcase, plopping down in your seat and gazing outside a bit, and then you step out in another city to do a city trip. So much fun, but the options for destinations are still a bit limited right now: we can go to London, or take the Thalys to Paris, but many European cities are still missing from this list.
Fortunately, there will be a lot of changes soon. That by 2025 a train will run from Amsterdam to Copenhagen was announced last week, for example, and that is of course great news, but it gets even better: there will also be a direct night train from Amsterdam to Barcelona. Yessss, let that Spanish adventure begin.
These trains come from the company European Sleepers, and they have even more grand plans for destinations besides Barcelona: Stockholm is also already on the schedule.
That schedule didn't go entirely smoothly, because actually the night train was supposed to run this coming December. Well, unfortunately that didn't work out, but they are now aiming for 2025. The trains will then depart in the late afternoon from Amsterdam, to arrive in Barcelona the next morning. Along the way, there will be stops in Rotterdam, Antwerp, Brussels, and Lille. That's all still in the evening, and then it continues on, only to stop again early the next morning in southern France.
Sounds amazing, right? I'm going to plan my city trip for 2025 already.
