The grim reason why toilets in hotels have phones

You've probably seen it on vacation: a phone hanging in the toilet. I always found that so special, because why would you want to call from the toilet? There's always a phone next to your bed, and that seems a lot more relaxing to make a nice phone call. But what you might not have known is that the phone is there for a reason... And that reason is quite grim.

It's actually for the safety of people, or more specifically: to save them from death. People are most likely to have a heart attack when they exert themselves. And that exertion happens a lot at two moments. During sex (yep, that's seriously a common occurrence; people who die during the act), but also during a number two. HAHA. Okay, it sounds a lot funnier than it is, but seriously, that's why there are phones in hotel toilets.

When you have a heart attack on the toilet, there's a very good chance you don't have your phone with you or it's not within reach. And tadaaa: that phone suddenly comes in very handy. No idea how many lives have already been saved because of this, but it must be quite a few.
