Why you want to go to London for Christmas

I think it’s a great city, although I’ve only rediscovered it a bit in recent years; London is insane. You can shop so well there, the restaurants are really exceptionally good (Amsterdam, and the whole of the Netherlands, can still learn a lot from that), the bars are so cozy and it’s so gigantic that you never have to be bored for a second. But what makes London even more fun are the months of November and December, when the city is completely in the Christmas spirit.

They start early with that in London: from mid-November, the Christmas lights are on everywhere, it gets dark early of course, and you really feel like you’re already in the Christmas atmosphere. But where should you go in London to catch all the beautiful Christmas lights? Very simple: you follow this walk.

No taxi, bus, or other form of public transport is involved; you can do all these streets on foot and make a nice walk out of it. The best part is of course to do it a bit towards the end of the day, so that the shops are still open but it is already dark.

I can personally highly recommend this walk, because yes: I am writing this currently from London, and even though I am actually quite a Grinch and have nothing to do with Christmas, even I am enchanted by all this decoration.
