Why you should go to Disney Frozen with friends

Forget your children for a moment

By

The Disney blockbuster Frozen first devoured a stack of awards with the film version (Oscars for Best Animated Feature (2014) and Best Original Song for Let It Go (2014), a Golden Globe for Best Animated Feature (2014), a BAFTA for Best Animated Feature, Critics’ Choice Award, 5 Annie Awards, and two Grammys for the soundtrack and Let It Go). Then when the musical Frozen appeared, those creators could also collect their nominations and won awards. I was lucky enough to be at the premiere with my daughters, which was amazing, but I want to go again, this time with my friends. Because Frozen seems to be the ideal family musical, but it is just as much fun to visit it with friends, and here’s why:

· The deeper layer

I dare to stick my fingers in the fire, and also in the dangerously cold ice – just to stay in Frozen vibes –: I found the musical so much better than the film. Not only because it is incredibly difficult to sing Let It Go perfectly and build ice castles live on stage, but especially because of the deeper layer that the lyricists have brought in. The bond between the sisters is more refined, more stretched out, and where the characters in the film were a bit caricatured, I found them much more alive in the musical. This is not only due to the actors you see in front of you, but also because of the dialogues and especially the opening scenes where you see Anna and Elsa as little girls. That’s where all the seeds are planted for the flowers they will later become. That scene explains much of their behavior, better than in the film. So if you think it’s a children’s musical: it’s so much more than that.

· The technique

When you go to Frozen, or any other musical, with your children, you are mainly busy looking for booster seats, picking popcorn off sweaters, going to the bathroom in between, saying “shh”, and wiping feet off the backrest. When you go with friends, you can just focus on what you see and marvel at the decor, the details in the woodwork, the dizzying technique, and that beautiful light (they didn’t win a Tony Award for nothing). You can also wonder with friends what the guy in the reindeer Sven looks like after 14 minutes of plank position.

· You can like everything

I have fortunately infected my daughters with the musical virus, but I also have friends whose children have somewhat outgrown Frozen. However, they still find it really fun. Singing along with Let It Go, being charmed by Olaf – it’s all allowed without anyone finding it “awkward”.

· Enjoy Scheveningen or The Hague afterwards

After such a musical, I am always full of energy. You have the urge to dance, the desire to sing, and absolutely no desire to go home to feed mouths and brush teeth. Arrange a babysitter and go enjoy with your friends Scheveningen in. Let your hair down and let it go, I would say.’

· Finish it off with the Frozen limo

If you really want the cherry on top, book the Frozen limousine, which will pick you up at any desired location and take you to the theater. The package also includes a hostess and you will receive a welcome and intermission arrangement with snacks and drinks. You will sit in premium seats in the auditorium.
