Quick fix: this is how to turn your living room into a home cinema

Admit it, when you're on your bike home, the only thing you fantasize about is a warm shower or bath, followed by putting on a deliciously bad movie to curl up in a cozy corner with. And preferably one of those really bad Christmas movies, that seems to have been copy-pasted because even the names are almost identical. I absolutely love it, the worse the better. And if you read more about what I write, you know that I watch quite a bit of TV and have subscriptions to all the streaming services you can think of, so I always have a good tip when someone asks for a nice (bad) series or movie. That said, I must also admit that the sound of my TV is so bad that I have to set it to level 345235 to understand the dialogues properly. Super sad of course, and my neighbors probably don’t even suspect it’s my TV, but think it must be that of the older lady next door. Clearly time for an upgrade of my little home cinema.
The most important element of a home cinema
If you really want to do it right with your home cinema, you must not underestimate how important your couch is. It’s just a must to struggle to stay awake, because the wonderful thing about it is: it doesn’t matter, you miss nothing. Since all those Christmas movies look alike, it’s really no disaster if you close your eyes for a quarter of an hour. What helps, if you really want to prevent yourself from falling asleep quickly while trying to watch a movie, is connecting those hue lights. It’s so incredibly fun when the colors adjust to what you’re watching, and it’s super simple to choose that via an app. Whether it’s a Christmas or horror movie, this light effect almost makes you feel like you’re in the movie yourself.
And then the cherry on top: the sound.
I’ll spare you the whole search, but it comes down to the fact that I didn’t want to spend a fortune on speakers for my TV, when I could spend that same fortune on a new winter wardrobe. That already eliminated quite a bit, I can tell you. In the end, I chose the HomePods that I had already had at home for quite some time. Stupidly enough, I had only been using them for Siri until recently, mainly letting her set timers while I was cooking. I really had no idea how simple it is to connect those speakers to my Apple TV box. And honestly; with 4K picture, adjusted lights, a lovely comfy seat, and booming sound, even the worst Christmas movie becomes a fantastic spectacle.
