Narcissists can't stand it when you say this one sentence to them

By

We probably all know a narcissist in our surroundings. And those narcissists can't handle criticism very well, can they? There is something you absolutely cannot say to a narcissist.

And that is very simple: ‘It's not always about you.’.

A kind of accusation that misses the mark with everyone who has narcissism. Narcissism is known as a personality disorder, in which people find themselves quite important. A bit of selfishness, it is. They believe that they are always right and that indeed, the world really revolves around them. They love posting selfies, they are always concerned with their appearance and how they come across to others. The strange thing is, they do come across as social at events. Because they are charming, funny – they know exactly what the other person wants. But underneath that lies something you would rather not encounter. Deceit. Because if they don't like it, you can just leave. Your friendship or relationship with a narcissist can end just like that. And especially if you don't give them their way and keep pushing back: if you say that the world doesn't revolve around them, they quickly get fed up with you. They want to manipulate and be in charge. Not to be directed by you. ‘It's not always about what you want!’, is a variation of that sentence they don't want to hear. That they can't handle. This sentence goes against their self-centered worldview and can frustrate them, because they can't stand being challenged or losing control over a conversation. Narcissists find it difficult to face their own mistakes or shortcomings, which is why such statements can upset them.

And you know: you should be very happy with such a little sentence. Because this keeps narcissists nicely away from you. You go girl.
