Netflix tip of the day: Players

If you're currently feeling completely crumpled because you're recovering from One Day, I have a nice tip for you. After One Day you'll definitely be ready for a feel-good movie and might want to not cry for once (or are you still doing that?). Well, put Players on tonight, because that's everything you're looking for.

In Players, Gina Rodriguez plays the lead role (if you do want to cry, put on Someone Great , also with her. If you keep it dry, you have a heart of stone.). She plays Mack, a writer who has been documenting her successful hook-ups for years. For her, it's a competition, a game; she calls it her ‘games’.

But then... Well, you guessed it: she falls in love with her latest prey, but he obviously doesn't know that she initially felt very differently about it. That prey is played by Tom Ellis, whom you might know from Lucifer or from the fact that he is ridiculously handsome.

In terms of plot, it's not mega-innovative: one enters a relationship under false pretenses but falls in love, the other finds out, gets angry, and then comes the grand finale. It's basically a sort of How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days, but the 2024 version. Yep, this is a fun one.
