Just about Edson de Graça

And his bizarre sex parties

It felt like coming-out weekend. On Friday, Gordon casually threw an old acquaintance under the bus by saying lightly for the camera: “I once had a threesome with them.” I hope the person in question was asked for their consent before it aired, because otherwise it’s quite an awkward moment when you’re sitting on the couch with your partner watching.

Edson de Graça, the cheerful presenter from RTL 4, had a completely different story. He got to spend a night at Raven van Dorst's place, where Raven, always good for an unexpected conversational twist, loudly fantasized about how beautiful life would be if he were endowed with a penis. Raven rambled on about how he would insert it everywhere, meanwhile holding a drill for his crotch. Edson laughed calmly. He might have used that penis a bit too much.

“Really?” Raven's eyes looked like satay skewers being pushed out of their sockets. Certainly. And then Edson continued. There used to be parties where white men brought their white women, who would then be ‘done’ by a black man.
Raven wanted to know how many men were there.

How many women

“Surely at least twenty.” Edson's mouth corners didn't quite know whether to curl up in pride or make a modest dimple in his cheek. It stayed a bit in between.
Raven lowered his drill and looked up at Edson, who suddenly seemed to have grown ten centimeters.

It couldn't possibly be

That it was wrong, he knew now, but back then he hadn't quite realized it. He thought it was cool to be the object of desire. But now, he would never do it again.
His words sounded firm, but those mouth corners went up just a bit too far for me to believe it.

What do we think of it

Of course, this news immediately spread like wildfire through various app groups. Ours included. I thought I had heard this story before during a talk show. Because I love famous people who haven't been completely flattened by millions of media trainings and occasionally say something they might not know will help them or not, I was pro-Edson. My colleagues found the contrast between packaging, Edson in a somewhat clumsy-looking overalls, and content (sex parties/white women/black men) quite jarring. It was just fairly straightforward. And a niche of which we were unaware, I might say.

I think Raven is going to break a viewership record again. I would almost write that it's as certain as the sun rises, but I'll let that metaphor pass for now.

What do you think of Edson's openness?
