And why she puts the case at risk

The fact that the Menendez brothers have been incarcerated for over 30 years does not mean that their love lives have stood still all that time. Cupid managed to penetrate the prison through the mail and both brothers have been married; well, were. Lyle's marriage has apparently been over for months and he has even found a new love. But while he floats on a pink cloud in his cell, this budding happiness seems to be turning into a storm cloud for his trial.

His new girlfriend is 21-year-old student Milly Bucksey. She is a member of a closed Facebook group about the Menendez brothers that is managed by Lyle's now ex-wife Rebecca. Milly posted a comment in the group earlier this year, catching Lyle's attention. Under a pseudonym, he reached out to her, only to later reveal who he really was. The spark ignited and he filed for divorce from Rebecca. Milly has also visited the prison multiple times to see her new love. The fact that the two wear matching pink glasses is evident from the actions Lyle takes for her. He smuggled a phone into his cell twice to be able to talk to her. He was caught, and that could have serious consequences.

Review of the sentence

In October, prosecutor George Gascón decided to advocate for a lighter sentence for the brothers. However, he has since lost his job. His successor, Nate Hochman, is reversing that decision and wants to conduct a thorough investigation himself first. This can only happen once he officially starts his new position on December 3. This entire change of the guard creates a lot of new doubt and yet again delays in the case. Everything that happens around the brothers until then can still be included in the investigation. So also Lyle's smuggling practices; and breaking prison rules certainly doesn't help your credibility. It remains to be seen when the brothers will have to appear in court again and what this romance will mean for that. Whether Milly will be present as a wife or if Lyle will have a new love again, time will tell.
