This is what you need to know about the intensely long sex scenes in Bridgerton

Bridgerton

If there is one thing the Bridgerton series is known for, it is its sex scenes. If you think it is a good old-fashioned costume drama, you are very far wrong. The series is a mix between Gossip Girl and Pride and Prejudice (you know, that romantic book adaptation with Keira Knightley, which, like Bridgerton, can also be found on Netflix). There's just one big difference: there are hugely hot sex scenes in this series. You really don't want to sit and watch this cosily with your mum, unless you like the idea of both slowly languishing in discomfort while the actors on screen continue to have endless sex. In fact, sex in Bridgerton goes much further than in any other film or series. It really is a few minutes of watching (female-friendly) porn, but without the genitals full screen on screen.

For Phoebe Dynevor (she played Daphne in season 1), it was also an interesting first day of work. The first scene she had to play was the moment ’the Duke’ disappears his head between her legs. An unusual way to get acquainted with your new colleague, it seems to me. But whether there is any ‘real’ feeling involved? Small chance. After all, filming has to be stopped regularly in between to give the naked buttocks a fresh lick of foundation. Clear agreements are also made. Like some kind of choreography, we discuss in advance when which hand will be placed where. So there is zero room for spontaneity. The average sex party, which in real life lasts about 15 minutes, is pretty short, especially if you compare it to how long it takes to record one sex scene: it takes an average of 12 hours. However clever the actors are, twelve hours in a row... That seems just eleven hours too long.
