This series you want to binge: ‘The sex lives of college girls’ has a third season

It's almost hard to believe, but in 2021 a super popular series came online at HBO Max, and until now I hadn't seen a single episode. Now I really couldn't avoid it, because the announcement of the third season was so present in my algorithm, I had to and would try an episode.

I had no idea what I had missed all this time

Once you're hooked on a series it's so hard to have to wait for a new season. Think of ‘Bridgerton’, they leave us sitting for 1.5 years with a gaping hole of time that we would have liked to spend on ’the Duke’. Sometimes it can really be an advantage if you discover a series later, and that also applies to ‘The sex lives of college girls’. Normally, with a new series, I always find that the first episode is a bit of a struggle. The creators are so busy introducing the characters that it all feels too forced and heavy-handed. Who doesn't feel vicarious embarrassment from that? Well, with this series, I enjoyed it from the very first moment. It's immediately super funny, even though there are indeed times when certain things need to be said to make it clear how the characters are constructed and what their backstory is.

It feels like ‘Gossip Girl’ mixed with ‘Sex Education’

The series is not only funny but also a reflection of real society with all kinds of different people and cultures, and everything that's happening in the world right now. For example, one character is ‘TikTok-famous’, with 200,000 followers, which resonates well with the four main characters who are obviously quite sensitive to this at 18.
