This is how to get rid of back acne

By

Winter has officially started (see: a feels-like temperature of -12 degrees outside???) and unfortunately, that means little good for my problematic skin. Not only is there a war on my T-zone, but my back has also seen better days. Every winter, my ‘bacne’ returns and getting rid of it is quite a challenge. Because no matter how much I slather myself daily with moisturizing serums and creams on my face, it works a bit differently on the back. You don't use expensive skincare for this, so you'll have to tackle those craters on your back in another way. And I'm going to tell you how.

1. Wash your bra more often
Ladies — yes, me too — have a tendency to have one favorite bra and wear it for a whole week. It's no wonder that this thing carries more bacteria with each passing day. My tip? Wash it after one (at most two) wears. Do this on a cold setting and let your bra air dry so it stays in good condition.

2. Shower immediately after exercising
You should definitely keep exercising, but what you should NOT do is postpone a shower when you get home; that tight, sweaty sportswear is a breeding ground for bacteria. You want to get out of it ASAP, you understand. The best is even to just step into the shower at the gym.

3. Rinse your back after applying conditioner
Khloé Kardashian has said it before, but I'm gonna say it again: after you've applied conditioner to your hair, it's extremely important that you rinse your back well. Some conditioners contain a lot of oils that you’d rather not let marinate on your body.

4. Avoid heavy bags on your back
Unless you're traveling and living out of a backpack, you might as well leave a heavy backpack at home. The friction that occurs is not very beneficial for your pores which can lead to acne. A handbag is the way to go, both in terms of fashion and skincare.

5. Be careful with exfoliating
A body scrub is really nice every now and then. But do be careful not to scrub your back like a headless chicken. Your skin is already sensitive enough, so the last thing it needs is a harsh scrub. It is recommended to use a gentle, oil-free soap or body wash instead.

6. Change your duvet cover
Just like it's nice to wash your pillowcase every few days, you should start throwing your sheets in the wash too. You'd be surprised how much mess your body leaves behind in bed at night, and you don't want your acne-prone skin to suffer in it for too long. Therefore, wash your sheets after ten days, ideally even after seven days.

7. Sulfur soap
Finally, my golden tip: sulfur soap. You can get it at Holland & Barrett, it costs nothing and your pimples will disappear like snow in the sun. Thank me later.
