You have never applied mascara in such a bizarre way

By
Lotte Lush Orca mascara

A mascara is always packaged in a plastic casing, just like thousands of other beauty products. We are of course used to this, so if it suddenly changes, it takes time, a lot of time, to get used to it. This is how Lush takes the first steps into the future with their packaging-free, environmentally friendly Orca mascara, where you only buy the wax in black, brown, blue, or pink. Plus: you get three different recyclable brushes that provide volume, definition (a comb on one side), and one with a round tip to separate your lashes. When I saw this product on my favorite TikTok account @thelipsticklesbians I immediately hopped on my bike towards Kalverstraat to buy it and of course try it out, because I was very curious about it.

How does it work exactly?
You shop a piece of wax (that is full of good and nourishing ingredients for your lashes and the environment) with space for the brush to go through. You wet one of the three spoolies with warm water or setting spray (this helps your lashes stay better) and by making a twisting motion in the wax, you get the mascara on your brush. You then apply this to your lashes and voilà, your lashes are coated with a layer of mascara. I tested it for you and if you love a nice present layer of mascara, then this might not be for you. Do you want to subtly add color to your lashes and do you already have voluminous lashes? The Orca it is. It looks very natural and stays put all day, just don’t ride your bike in the rain with it or you’ll need to apply a layer of this mascara over it. Last but not least: wait until your brush with wax is not so wet anymore, otherwise the mascara splatters all over your face (my mistake the first time, so I want to share this tip with you). For €14,- you can shop ‘it online now or in the store. Is this the future of mascara?

@thelipsticklesbians Replying to @razzberyy Many of you were eagerly awaiting our full evaluation of @LUSH’s sustainable Naked Mascara we stumbled upon while shopping the other day, and the moment has arrived! I was determined to thoroughly test her, so I started with the instructed water dip and then elevated the evaluation further by drenching the wand in @urban decay’s All-Nighter setting spray! Using setting spray on mascara brush is a hack you can use to create more hold and wear. The results genuinely surprised me, and I didn’t expect for it to give me so much color payoff and life on the lash as it did. So far, I’m surprised! But I also want to try her on my other eye with lash primer on and see how she does. Stay tuned for part 2, where I’ll explore Lush’s Naked Mascara application over @Dior’s lash primer. I’m excited to share the results with y’all 👀✨ #thelipsticklesbians #makeup #beautytok #lushcosmetics #sustainable ♬ original sound – The Lipstick Lesbians

@thelipsticklesbians Replying to @soupycough In the second phase of the evaluation, let’s evaluate how the @LUSH Naked Mascara performs with one of my favorite lash primers, the @Dior Diorshow Maximizer 3D lash primer. I found that applying Lush’s Naked Mascara over a white lash primer, like Dior’s, not only intensified the blue hue of Lush’s mascara bulk, but also added noticeable length to my lashes. Lash primers, acting as a base coat, often contain conditioning and lengthening ingredients. This combination definitely showcased the transformative power of layering a primer rather than water underneath. This was such a fun exploration! And now, the WEAR TEST 👀 Which side do you expect to perform better through a twelve hour day? #thelipsticklesbians #makeup #beautytok #lushcosmetics #sustainable ♬ original sound – The Lipstick Lesbians

@thelipsticklesbians Replying to @skullznsequinz Full day wear test is in of @LUSH’s Naked Mascara in the shade Ocean. Although it’s not perfect, it held up surprisingly well. Aside from a little bit of flaking, I didn’t experience any smudging and the vibrancy of its color stayed pretty strong after almost 10 hours of wear. (I also got to start evaluating @Laura Mercier’s new concealer, stay tuned for that soon!) It’s a bit messy, but IMHO kind of fun! I would definitely wear this again. And I want to explore the other colors I got too. What do y’all think? Which eye held up best? 👀 Is sustainability something that is important to you in your purchasing decisions? #thelipsticklesbians #makeup #beautytok #lushcosmetics #sustainable ♬ original sound – The Lipstick Lesbians
