Why you should go to South England
Maybe your most beautiful trip ever

I have a beach house and often gaze over the North Sea and fantasize about England. That seems so delightful to me: touring through South England in a little car. I read (these are delightful books for the summer) last year The Salt Path, a true story about a couple who loses all their money and then decides to walk the salt path, and since then this part of England has been etched into my bucket list.
When I ran into Mart Visser last week (these six things you can learn from Mart) - always fun - and he started raving about his trip to this area and then texted me some tips, I was even more convinced. I won't make it this summer, but maybe you will. So note this down:
Cornwall
Land's End: the southwesternmost point of mainland England offers spectacular cliffs and views. This is also one of the places in the book The Salt Path.
St. Ives: a picturesque harbor town known for its art galleries, beaches, and cozy atmosphere.
Tintagel Castle: explore the legendary ruins of King Arthur's castle.
Devon (our Lil also needs to go here because her beloved is named Devon)
Dartmoor National Park: a rugged and beautiful nature area with wild ponies, granite hills, and historical monuments.
Exeter: visit the impressive cathedral and the charming old town.
Torquay: known as the English Riviera, ideal for beach visits and water sports.
Dorset
Jurassic Coast: a UNESCO World Heritage site famous for its fossils and rock formations like Durdle Door and the cliffs at Lyme Regis.
Corfe Castle: a ruin with a rich history, located in a beautiful village.
Somerset
Bath: Especially known for its Roman baths (hence the name), the famous Bath Abbey, and the elegant Royal Crescent.
Glastonbury: known for its myths and legends, including Glastonbury Tor and Glastonbury Abbey. And of course for the festival where this year something so sweet happened.
Wiltshire
Stonehenge: the iconic prehistoric monument calls for a photo, right?
Salisbury: the cathedral has the tallest spire in England.
Hampshire
New Forest National Park: A beautiful wooded area where wild ponies roam freely.
Winchester: this was the old capital of England and has beautiful, classic streets.
Sussex
Brighton: A vibrant coastal city with the iconic Brighton Palace Pier, the Royal Pavilion, and numerous boutiques and restaurants.
Seven Sisters Cliffs: breathtaking chalk cliffs that are ideal for walks with sea views.
What to do? Well, driving around, of course, on the left. Walking South England has countless walking routes, ranging from coastal paths to forest walks.
Castles and gardens: visit beautiful historic castles and gardens, such as Arundel Castle and Sissinghurst Castle Garden. Museums The Tate St. Ives and the Royal Albert Memorial Museum in Exeter.
Where to sleep? Mart (Visser, that is) gave me the great tip of handpickedhotels.co.uk with all fantastic (and not even unaffordable) hotels. I also love the Soho House locations.
