There is such a product in my bathroom that I use daily without thinking: deodorant. Team spray or roller? I have been convinced of the roller for years. A spray always ends up in my eye, in my mouth, or worse, on my silk blouse. Not ideal. So I remain loyal to my stick, even for many years. Because I wear a lot of black or white clothing, I was loyal to that well-known ‘black and white’ variant from Nivea (you know, the deodorant that promises not to leave streaks and honestly: it didn’t). Until I came across Corpus N° Green at Skins in 2021. And that was, literally, a breath of fresh air. A kind of love at first sight. A deodorant without junk and that might also be a good thing.
Because unfortunately: with most deodorants, that is often the case. The common variants are full of aluminum salts, parabens, and synthetic fragrances. And they easily (conveniently) enter your body directly through your skin. It may not yet be scientifically proven that using deodorants with aluminum salts leads to breast cancer or Alzheimer’s, but concerns have been raised. Ouch. And all of that for a little stick that just needs to do its job: a fresh scent, preferably no sweat marks, and especially no stress while wearing a silk top or gray T-shirt.
When I discovered a natural deodorant, a world opened up for me. I never really thought about using it. I just rolled it under my armpits, just like brushing my teeth, it’s just part of my morning routine. But when I found a deodorant that is plant-based, packaged in an ultra-chic casing, almost produced with solar energy and with a scent of bergamot, pink lemon, cardamom, and orange blossom (which reminds me of my parents' eau de cologne from back in the day), I was sold. Since then, I am hooked. It stung a bit here and there at first, because your skin needs to get used to natural ingredients, but I don’t have any issues with that anymore. Believe me: you want this too from now on.
From Malin + Goetz to Salt & Stone, and from Le Labo to Eticos (refillable AND in Santal, yes please): these are the 9 chicest deodorants that not only smell divine but are also good for your skin AND your health. Ready to roll?
One of my favorites. This 100% natural and vegan deodorant is completely free of aluminum, parabens, and synthetic fragrances. Made using solar energy, hydropower, and packaged in a minimalist chic casing.
Scent: Bergamot, pink lemon, cardamom, and orange blossom (fresh, citrusy, and elegant).
Like everything from Aesop, this deodorant is a lesson in style. It’s a nice spray without aluminum, subtly perfuming your armpits with botanical oils.
Scent: Sage, rosemary, eucalyptus, as if you just stepped out of a luxury herb garden.
Bonus: The glass bottle looks beautiful on your bathroom shelf.
Salt & Stone is known for its combination of high-performance formulas and minimal design. This stick is long-lasting, unisex, and formulated without alcohol, parabens, or aluminum.
Scent: Vetiver and sandalwood (warm, smoky, modern).
Lightweight, fresh, and designed for sensitive skin. This stick uses natural antibacterial ingredients to combat odor without blocking pores.
Scent: Eucalyptus, fresh and clean, as if you just came from a spa.
Perfect for: Sports, travel, and daily use.
A niche perfume in deodorant form. No overstatement. Le Labo’s Bergamote 22 is iconic and this deodorant translates that into something you want to use daily. Aluminum-free and with plant-based ingredients. Scent: Citrus, grapefruit, amber, and musk (fresh but deep). Tip: Combine with the matching perfume from the brand.
Clarins combines comfort with effectiveness: this roller is alcohol-free, leaves no stains, and just does its job.
Scent: Fresh and subtly floral. Plus: A nice choice if you wear a lot of silk, linen, or light gray T-shirts.
Fragrance free, clean, and super reliable. This classic is not ‘trendy’, but ideal for those looking for a fragrance-free, aluminum-free deodorant that really works.
Scent: None. Perfect if you want your perfume to steal the show.
For whom? For sensitive skin or fragrance-sensitive types.
We love products that are not only good for your skin but also for the planet. Eticos completely understands that. This deodorant is refillable, plant-based, and made in the Netherlands, so you don’t have to fly to the other side of the world for it. The scent Santal is warm, woody, and lightly spicy, a bit like a design store that always smells nice. Think of sandalwood, cedar, and a subtle hint of musk, sophisticated but never overpowering. And nice: this deodorant leaves no streaks on your clothing, absorbs quickly, and feels dry without drying out your skin.
Transparent gel formula (so no white streaks), quickly absorbing and packed with nourishing ingredients like niacinamide and zinc.
Scent: Eucalyptus (fresh, airy, awake).
Skincare-like formula for your armpits. Your skin will be happy with it.
