Billie Eilish sleeps in this cheap hotel in Amsterdam

Here sleeps Billie Eilish in Amsterdam

Billie Eilish conquers Amsterdam. Yesterday she performed in a packed Ziggo Dome and received De Volkskrant no less than five stars for her performance. While the confetti still sticks to the seats, Amsterdam is already gearing up for her show tonight. But what makes Billie’s visit to the Netherlands so special? And where is she actually holding her afterparty? We dove into her Amsterdam adventure.

Billie Eilish is silent for two minutes

Billie Eilish did something yesterday that you wouldn't expect from many superstars in a hysterical Ziggo Dome. While thousands of fans were ready to go wild, bad guy, Billie softly asked for... silence. Two minutes to be exact. “I know you didn’t come here for this,” she said, “but it’s important to take a moment of silence.” And they did. All 17,000 fans kept quiet while outside the bells of the Dam rang. Goosebumps, even in the back row.

From silence to storm at Billie Eilish

After that impressive silence, the atmosphere in the Ziggo Dome changed immediately. As if Billie herself had flipped a switch. Bury a friend, Oxytocin, Happier Than Ever — one by one she blasted them out. And that with that characteristic whispering voice that sounds even more intense live than on Spotify. De Volkskrant called her performance “a hypnotizing mix of vulnerability and strength.” We simply call it: awesome.

Where does Billie Eilish sleep?

No Marriott or Waldorf for this megastar. Billie Eilish is staying these days at the Fletcher Hotel Amsterdam, that iconic building with the round tower along the A2. Not exactly what you would expect from a world star, but hey: nice and close to the Ziggo Dome and room service until midnight. And: a sauna with a view over the city (in case we ever want to dream).

Billie Eilish’s dining spots

Yesterday afternoon Billie was spotted at restaurant HEARTH on the Albert Cuyp. Logical, because this plant-based restaurant fits perfectly with her vegan lifestyle. According to insiders, she chose the ‘mushroom lover’ pizza and a coconut matcha. And honestly: we can totally see her there, oversized hoodie, sunglasses, her jet-black hair hidden under a baseball cap.

“Amsterdam is magie”

Billie has often mentioned in interviews that Amsterdam is one of her favorite cities. And that has everything to do with the film The Fault in Our Stars. The famous bench on the Prinsengracht? Yes, Billie had to sit there someday. Yesterday afternoon she actually took a seat there, with her brother Finneas next to her, as attentive fans reported on TikTok. “It felt like I was inhaling a piece of film history,” she later said backstage.

Tonight: round two

Tonight Billie is back in the Ziggo Dome. The tickets have been sold out for weeks, but some last-minute gems are popping up on TicketSwap (for those willing to sacrifice their savings). And honestly: it’s worth it. Because Billie live in Amsterdam? That’s not a concert. That’s an experience.

What Billie taught us

What lingers after such an evening? That Billie Eilish might just be the coolest anti-star to ever visit Amsterdam. She whispers where others scream. She embraces silence where others make noise. And she does it all in sweatpants with her name in gothic letters on them.

Tonight we will sing along again. And if you, like me damn it, don’t have a ticket, we’ll just do it at home because the Hit me Hard and Soft playlist is also on Spotify.
