Perfect destinations for the May holiday

Look at Google Trending and, besides the latest football matches and Donald Trump, the May holiday is one of the most searched terms. What we all want to know is where we will go. Because Barcelona and Paris – even though I could really go there a thousand times – you might have already seen. Therefore, here are some suggestions for cities you might want to visit during the May holiday.
Stockholm is top in May
Stockholm breathes minimalist chic with a Scandinavian twist. Iwas there two years ago with my Swedish Pilates teacher and wrote about my findings. Stockholm, and the Swedes themselves of course, are known for their simple, elegant style and the use of sustainable, high-quality materials. You can see that in fashion as well as in architecture and design. From luxury flagship stores of Chanel and Louis Vuitton to independent multi-brand boutiques (where I bought a phenomenal Vanessa Bruno dress) and vintage; you have it all there. In the trendy district of Södermalm, you should definitely go if you are a vintage freak, and if you are more of a luxury type, I would say; go to Biblioteksgatan.
Where do you sleep?
NOFO Hotel, WorldHotels Crafted – This boutique hotel in the trendy district of Södermalm has eclectically decorated rooms inspired by fashion capitals New York and London. I personally slept in Villa Dagmar, which although it didn't have a large room, had the best bed ever (I seriously considered buying their mattress and having it transported from Sweden to the Netherlands) and is just very beautiful. It is also super central, has a lovely courtyard, and a terrace at the front. Next to Villa Dagmar is a food market where you can get the tastiest Swedish snacks.

Taipei, Taiwan
Taipei is a hidden fashion gem, where streetwear and luxury fashion come together. The city is buzzing with creative energy and like other Asian cities such as Hong Kong and Seoul, Taipei is booming. There is also a Taipei Fashion Week that puts local designers in the spotlight, and in the East District, you find a unique mix of local labels and international brands. If you love shopping, you should definitely go to the Taipei 101 Mall and the shopping streets of Ximending.
Where do you sleep?
Renaissance Taipei Shihlin Hotel – For a stay that is just as stylish as the city itself, this five-star hotel offers modern luxury with a Taiwanese design. It is located in the Shihlin district, close to shopping hotspots and night markets. You immediately have the perfect mix of fashion, comfort, and culture.
surprising in May: Atlanta
Forget New York for a moment, just do something new like Atlanta. Did you know that a lot of movies are filmed in Atlanta and that many important music genres come from here? Usher (by the way, did you know that Justin Bieber didn't want to perform with Usher anymore?), Outkast, and Childish Gambino come from here, for example. And it is a very green city, which I sometimes miss in New York. Atlanta is even called The City in a Forest. Another plus; you can fly directly there. Because it is quite a bit of flying, actually.
Where do you sleep?
Scout Living, powered by Placemakr – Ponce City Market – This stay is located in the heart of Old Fourth Ward, where you find everything from restaurants to beautiful shops. And, I would especially go for that modern apartment with a rooftop terrace and pool, duh..

In May with Maxima
Buenos Aires is a city you just want to visit in your life, right? Even if it's just to get to know the roots of our queen a little better. I once wrote the six lessons you can learn from Maxima, always nice to read. And why not in May? The holiday is long and in the summer, it is also really nice weather in the Netherlands nowadays. In the neighborhoods of Palermo and San Telmo, you find trendy vintage shops, bohemian jewelry, and retro football shirts. The second-hand market is flourishing, with unique shops Juan Perez and Jaleo, where you find one-of-a-kind clothing items. The Sunday market in San Telmo and the Mercado de las Pulgas are must-visits for those looking for antique and vintage finds. And of course, you feel the buzz and excitement everywhere, listen to wonderful music, and eat such a perfect steak.
Where do you sleep?
Casa Caravan – Plant Based Concept House – This stylish B&B is located in the heart of Palermo, within walking distance of the coolest vintage shops and fashion streets of the city. With a relaxed atmosphere, a bar, and a pool in the garden, this is the perfect place to unwind after a day full of fashion adventures.
Abu Dhabi, better in May than in July
Abu Dhabi seems to me just a bit, well quite a bit, too hot in the summer. Therefore, the May holiday is the perfect holiday to travel to Abu Dhabi. I have never been there myself, but I hear from everyone who has been that the weather is very different, and a bit less bling bling, than in Dubai. From the extravagant Marina Mall to the traditional Gold Souk of high-end couture to handmade jewelry, you find it all here. And it is super affordable, which is also a breath of fresh air. Another advantage; the time difference with Abu Dhabi is only two hours in May, so you do have travel time, but no jet lag. By the way, did you know that you should eat this to combat jet lag?
Where do you sleep?
ERTH Abu Dhabi Hotel – Just 15 minutes from the center, this hotel mixes modern elegance with classic Emirati influences. It has a private beach, so what more do you need?
