This might be the best series ever

By

Since The Affair I haven't been this addicted to a series in a long time. For the past three days, I've had my snout glued to my laptop watching another episode of… The Morning Show.

I had already heard from several people that this is the series you want to see, but for some reason, it just didn't happen. You watch it on Apple TV+ and that's a bit less in my system, but oh boy, it’s worth it.

A bit about Jennifer Aniston
Because that's already a huge reason to watch. Jennifer Aniston plays the lead role (Alex Levy is a hugely successful presenter who is quite close to her expiration date) and is also an executive producer of the series. By the way, she earns two million per episode (you read that right: not per season, but per episode) and that nicely fills the already quite full Aniston coffers. She also receives two million in royalties for Friends every year and naturally rakes in quite a few millions with her commercial collaborations. Jennifer Aniston is the perfect woman to play this role. Also a bit older, layered, lived, beautiful, experienced, and at the same time knowing that everything can just be over.

And about Reese Witherspoon
She plays the other lead role and is also an executive producer of the series. While the two would prefer to enjoy a glass of each other's blood as an appetizer in the series, they have the greatest fun with each other during filming. There is no salary gap because both ladies earn two million per episode. Totally unimportant, but they are both very petite. Aniston is 1.64 meters tall, while Reese is 1.56 meters.

This is what it's about
The story is inspired by Brian Stelter's book ‘Top of the Morning: Inside the Cutthroat World of Morning TV’ about all the misconduct that took place at a morning show. Sexual harassment, inappropriate behavior, and at the same time sacrificing a public figure to make a public statement and wash all hands in innocence, while behind the scenes everything that cannot withstand the light of day continues to happen.

What I find beautiful about the series is that all the characters are so layered that you don't necessarily find anyone very stupid or very nice. There is no good and an outspoken bad guy (at least, not yet where I am). You can understand and follow everyone, and that makes it so interesting because the issues we are currently facing are not so clearly defined. The boundaries of inappropriate behavior are simply not clearly delineated. Anyway, this series is about opportunism, insecurity, the baggage of your background, and ambition, but you also just see a lot of nice houses, beautiful clothes, and parties. And the music, editing, and cinematography are insane. The series is among the most expensive ever made, alongside The Crown. The first two seasons cost 300 million to produce. That was including Jen and Reese's salaries. But anyway, it’s on my list of the best series ever. And maybe it’s at the top.
