Here you can buy the fantastic pantsuit of Queen Máxima
Nothing Dutch is foreign to me, so I like to complain a lot. About the weather (sometimes too cold, sometimes too warm – never just right), about the traffic jams, and of course about the NATO summit. Why couldn't I just drive from Haarlem to Zandvoort to let the dogs (I currently have a guest dog) run on the beach? What does Zandvoort have to do with The Hague? There isn't even a direct connection. And when I dropped off my loved one at Schiphol Airport and wanted to drive home via Hoofddorp, every exit was blocked by military trucks as if war had broken out.
From frustration to admiration
And while one should actually avoid The Hague, I was directed straight onto the highway towards The Hague. I grumbled and growled. Why did this hobby project (sorry, but it was really a tough moment) of Mark Rutte have to take place right here? We weren't prepared for it at all! And Huis ter Duin is a great hotel, sure, but I couldn't exactly picture Trump being happy there.
The power of the royal image
But as easily as I complain, I also change my mind. Because when I saw our great queen yesterday in her lime green pantsuit, next to her Princess Amalia, who – as the English beautifully say – is blooming in every way, I felt only one thing: pride.
Máxima's pantsuit steals the show from everyone
And I had to rethink my opinion about Mark Rutte. Because hosting this NATO summit in our small country might have been the most strategic move ever. The history of our royal house, the splendor of Huis ten Bosch, the charm of our queen and crown princess, and the ease of our king – perhaps that was the honey that connects everyone.
Queen Máxima in a fashion classic from 2006
As I write this, four newspapers are lying in front of me on the table, all reporting on the NATO summit – and in three out of four, our queen shines from the front page. It's also fantastic that she wore an outfit she had already worn in 2006. By the way, I know all this thanks to Josine Droogendijk from Modekoningin Máxima, who wonderfully documents all of this.
Where can you buy Máxima's pantsuit?
This suit is – as it should be – couture and was specially made for our queen. But in the prêt-à-porter collection of Natan, the queen's court supplier, there is something very similar available for purchase. Stylish, elegant, special, colorful, not everyday, and glamorous. Just like our queen herself.
Amalia: Timeless class in Ralph Lauren
And Amalia? Oh, I just find her beautiful and charming. She wore a long dress by Ralph Lauren – just as classic and timeless as she is.
