Here is where you can buy Máxima's beautiful pantsuit

Nothing Dutch is foreign to me, so I like to complain a bit every now and then. About the weather (too cold at first, then too hot – in short, never just right), about traffic, and of course about the NATO summit. Why couldn't I just drive from Haarlem to Zandvoort to let the dogs run (I'm hosting a dog these days) on the beach? What does Zandvoort have to do with The Hague, for heaven's sake? There isn't even a direct connection. And when I took my partner to Schiphol and wanted to return home via Hoofddorp, every exit was blocked by military trucks, as if a war had broken out.

From frustration to admiration
And just when everyone had to avoid The Hague, I was being directed straight onto the highway towards The Hague. I was grumbling and huffing. Why did this personal project (sorry, but I was really at my limit here) of Mark Rutte have to take place here? We were not equipped at all! And Huis ter Duin is certainly a good hotel, but I couldn't imagine Trump really happy there.

The power of the real image
But as easily as I complain, I also change my mind. Because when I saw our wonderful queen shining in her lime green pantsuit yesterday, next to Princess Amalia – who, as the English say so well, is “blooming” in every sense – I felt only one thing: pride.

Máxima's suit steals the show
And I had to revise my opinion on Mark Rutte. Because organizing the NATO summit in our small country might have been the most strategic move possible. The history of our Royal House, the beauty of Huis ten Bosch, the charm of our queen and the hereditary princess, and the spontaneous authenticity of our king – all of this could really be the “honey” that unites everyone.

Queen Máxima in a fashion classic from 2006
As I write these lines, I have four newspapers in front of me: all talking about the NATO summit, and in three of them our queen is featured on the front page. It's also extraordinary that she wore a suit she had already showcased in the past – in 2006. I know this thanks to Josine Droogendijk of Modekoningin Máxima, who keeps track of everything impeccably.

Where to buy Máxima's suit?
This suit is – queen among queens – couture and made to measure for our sovereign. But in the prêt-à-porter collection of Natan, the official supplier of the royal wardrobe, you can find something very similar. It's elegant, refined, unique, colorful, unconventional, and glamorous. Just like our queen.

Amalia: timeless class in Ralph Lauren
And Amalia? Oh, I find her beautiful and full of charm. She wore a long dress by Ralph Lauren – just as elegant and timeless as she is.
