Rare Beauty launches a perfume that deserves an award
And this is why

Rare Beauty, the beauty brand of Selena Gomez, has launched a perfume in a clever bottle. With this, Selena not only adds a perfume to her mega-popular brand, but also makes a statement about accessibility. The perfume is called Rare Eau de Parfum and is anything but standard. Think: sweet caramel, soft pistachio, and a hint of pink pepper as top notes. Then follows a creamy vanilla, a bit of spicy ginger, and warm cocoa bean in the heart. Once the perfume settles on the skin, the woody character emerges with sandalwood, tonka bean (favorite), and an almost skin-like musk that makes the perfume so nice. And on your skin, due to your pH level, it will smell really different for everyone.
But what makes the perfume truly special is not only the scent itself, but precisely the packaging. The bottle is designed for really ev-e-ry-one. A wide, rounded applicator makes spraying possible for people with limited hand or finger function, for example due to arthritis or osteoarthritis. This is not just a nice extra: it is a conscious choice by the Rare Beauty team, which collaborated with certified hand therapists and packaging engineers to make this happen. During development, they also collaborated with the Casa Colina Research Institute to truly incorporate their expertise into the design process. And you can see that, or rather: you can feel it immediately when you hold the bottle. There is a lot of time and attention put into it.
On TikTok, the perfume went viral before it was even in stores. Very clever of the brand, as they sent samples to influencers. One of my favorite (quite technical) TikTok beauty accounts, The Lipstick Lesbians, explained how special it is to be able to use a perfume bottle without pain or frustration. For them, this is not just a nice scent, but especially a breakthrough in how beauty brands think about inclusivity. And let's be honest: that was needed. In a world where perfumes are still often packaged in small, stiff bottles with tricky caps and sometimes a bit too harsh sprays, this feels like a revolution.
The perfume itself lasts well and changes subtly throughout the day. What’s extra nice is: you can combine it with four accompanying scent balms in different flavors, such as floral, fresh, or woody. This way, you easily give the base scent a personal twist.
With Rare Eau de Parfum Selena shows that she not only knows what smells good, but also what the world needs. A scent that is not only beautiful but also thinks along and works. A bottle that not only looks good but also feels good. And above all: she shows that beauty only truly counts when everyone can participate.
@thelipsticklesbians @Rare Beauty’s new Eau de Parfum might smell amazing, but the packaging is what really makes her special IMHO. @Selena Gomez worked with hand therapists and engineers to design a bottle that’s actually easy to hold, press, and open especially for anyone with dexterity challenges. It’s so special to see this deep of love and intention being put into a product, but I’d expect nothing less from Rare. The oversized pump takes barely any pressure to mist, the curved shape of the bottle actually fits naturally in your hand, and the twisting lock cap feels so intuitive (and great for travel!) There’s real thought behind it and that’s the kind of design the beauty industry needs more of. We love to see it! 👏❤️ #thelipsticklesbians #beautytok #makeupreview #beautyindustry #rarebeauty #accessibility #fragrance #perfumetok ♬ original sound – The Lipstick Lesbians
