Sarah Jessica Parker wears “our” Iris van Herpen

By
A photo of American actress Sarah Jessica Parker on a red carpet, possibly during a gala. She is wearing a striking dress with a light, corset-like top and a long, wide flaring skirt and cape made of black, textured material that looks feather-like or pleated. She has her hands folded over her chest and is smiling broadly and joyfully. In the background, other formally dressed guests can be seen and a lit wall with text.

The triumph of Iris van Herpen just keeps going. She just opened her exhibition Sculpting the Senses in Rotterdam, which received nothing but praise and five stars. Now she is heading to New York for the New York City Ballet Gala.

Sarah Jessica Parker is wearing a cream-colored dress with an intricate black, scale-like overlay and a large black cape of textures. Iris van Herpen is wearing one of her signature designs: a white and light pink dress with complex, dark, abstract lines and cutouts reminiscent of wings or a skeleton. Both women are looking straight into the camera.

Iris van Herpen and Sarah Jessica Parker

When fashion and ballet are celebrated, as is the case at the opening of the ballet season, you hit the mark with Iris van Herpen. Iris celebrates form, movement, posture, and special sculptures, just like in dance. For the new choreography that premiered that evening, Iris van Herpen designed the costumes.

The New York Ballet Gala acts like a magnet for celebs, and this year was no exception with a flood of RSVPs from the celebrities of the earth. Mick Jagger was definitely there, as his beloved dances with the New York City Ballet. Sarah Jessica Parker was there too, as she is actually a ballerina (you can tell by those muscular legs), Nicole Ari Parker (her And Just Like That colleague) and Julia Fox. All three wore a creation by Iris van Herpen. To celebrate and merge fashion and dance. And you know that when Sarah Jessica Parker wears something, everyone talks about it.

Iris van Herpen is used to celebs wearing her designs, like here the daughter of Michael Jackson and Barbara Palvin. Yet I think that when Iris woke up the next day there in New York, she asked someone to pinch her arm really hard. Just to make sure that everything happening is really true.
