Even about Carrie’s kitchen in And Just Like That

And why is her house never finished?

Criticism of the third season of And Just Like That

There is quite a bit of criticism of the third season of And Just Like That and I especially have a lot of trouble with Carrie’s kitchen. Look, that And Just Like That is a mediocre spin-off of Sex and the City, I know that for sure. The second season really did rise above the clumsy first part, but if you look me, a huge fan and Sex and the City-specialist, straight in the eyes and ask if it’s good, I have to answer negatively. No, it’s not good.

Why I still keep watching Carrie and co

Being a fan of And Just Like That and team Carrie is just like choosing a football club. You don’t suddenly become a Feyenoord fan if Ajax has a bad season. So yes, the storylines are mediocre, some dialogues where wordplay is piled on wordplay make your toes curl in your socks, but still, I’m happy to watch. Every Thursday again. I enjoy being in New York for a moment, watching the outfits of Carrie, Charlotte, and Lisa and Seema (Miranda’s outfits don’t appeal to me as much this season), I love Harry and Aiden, oh he was always my least favorite character so I’m fine with him being banished to Virginia. So I have all sorts of opinions about it and it ain’t good but I brushed it all aside for the sake of my love for the series.

Carrie’s kitchen just doesn’t add up

But that kitchen of Carrie’s, it really can’t be. As a producer, you try to make the sets ‘in character’. So to align with the character. The creators of Sex and the City were masters at that, exceptionally good. But now? Carrie is indeed with Aiden, she is also a wealthy widow in her sixties who loves luxury. Her house that she shared with Mister Big was five-star luxury. Now Carrie lives in a beautiful brownstone in Gramercy Park that lacks furniture, and that can perhaps still be explained, but that kitchen; when it was furnished, the set dressers were probably on vacation.

Why an Ikea dish rack in Carrie’s kitchen?

Carrie may not be known for her cooking skills, she has also grown in life because when Miranda comes to stay with her, she is upset that Miranda has eaten her yogurt and last banana. When Miranda says: “But you don’t cook!” Carrie replies that that used to be the case, but that she does eat now. Moreover, Carrie loves luxury and beauty and has taste and style. How can she, for heaven’s sake, have an Ikea dish rack on her countertop? I had that as a student in the last century. Exactly that rack. It collapsed at least three times a week and has shattered quite a few wine glasses, but that’s beside the point.

A drip coffee maker? Seriously, Carrie?

And then this: an old-fashioned drip coffee maker? I know that Americans love drip coffee, but Carrie should have a beautiful espresso machine here, right? And that little curtain under the sink that replaces a door? Like you sometimes see in an old Italian holiday home. Oh, I could go on for another hour. I think I also saw a can of tomatoes being reused to hold pens. Wouldn’t Carrie use an old Diptyque candle for that? The woman breathes class and style. The only thing I still find a bit funny about Carrie’s kitchen is the sticker that Virginia is for losers is stuck on the fridge. I still think that’s not something for Carrie in 2025 but it is a funny reference to Aiden’s hometown.

Why is Carrie’s apartment never furnished?

Why is Carrie’s apartment never ready? That’s what presenter and producer Andy Cohen recently asked Sarah Jessica Parker. Why does it take so long for Carrie to furnish her house? There’s only a bed and Carrie’s divan in there now. It’s not that hard to furnish a house and Carrie has time and money to spare. When Andy asks Sarah this question, she laughs. “Is it because Carrie misses her old apartment? Sarah laughs and remains silent. ”Is she going back?“ asks Andy. Not answering is the best cliffhanger.

Oh people, I hope so. Go get our girl and bring her back.
