This is your ideal Christmas outing

Christmas is peeking around the corner. I find it incredibly cozy by the way, because being born on December 23, I devour everything; from Christmas wreaths to mistletoe and even Last Christmas never gets old for me. I absolutely love to go on a Christmas outing during that period: to the Christmas circus in Carré or to The Nutcracker. This year, I will be found in the Ziggo Dome because many of my loved ones will be gathered there at the Evening of Film Music

Evening of Film Music Christmas Edition
The Evening of Film Music is a tried and tested recipe: the Metropole Orchestra (according to those who have studied it, the best film orchestra in the world) plays pieces from famous films with the images projected on a large screen. Each year the lineup varies, and the funny thing is that the Evening of Film Music sells out completely every year, even before it is known which film music will be played and which guest artists will come. The friendly double bassist Dominic Seldis, you know, that charming jury member from Maestro, has been presenting the evening for years, always with a different host by his side. And this year, Dominic will present together with Daan Schuurmans, which I find a masterful match on all fronts. Daan is an actor, a great storyteller and ‘explainer’, as we have seen in The Story of and - and you might not know this yet - is a great music lover and a quite skilled pianist. Daan has a crazy schedule this fall (I believe he is filming three series at the same time and is also in a renovation), but for the Evening of Film Music, he managed to adjust his agenda so that he can be at the Ziggo Dome every evening.

Christmas in the Ziggo Dome
Because the Evening of Film Music was pretty much sold out when the confetti was still flying through the air at the last show, there was a demand for more. After a lot of back and forth calls - because everyone had to be able to make it - it worked out. On December 20 and 21, there will be, at many requests, the Evening of Film Music The Christmas Edition. What you will hear there will not only be Christmas music, but also music from series and films that are watched a lot during Christmas. Of course, there is the score of The Holiday and you will hear the most beautiful main theme from Downton Abbey and Harry Potter. But as the fans of the Evening of Film Music know, it is layered. From classic to cult film, so there is something for everyone. I also really love the Ziggo Dome because the sound is top-notch and everything is just very well organized. The parking garages are within Jimmy Choo-heel distance, the restrooms are clean and abundant, and did I mention that they serve really good wine (sometimes even Salentino, my favorite), cocktails, beer, and non-alcoholic options?
So I would say: make sure you are there. I am a week animal for everything related to Christmas, so I will definitely see you there!
