Love Is Blind Netherlands: this is what we can expect on Wednesday

Warning: possible spoilers

By

Love is Blind: Netherlands is currently very hot and happening. The first five episodes have been online since last week and what a sensation we have already seen. From Jurriaan's comment (which went viral internationally) to Marc-Vincent's condescending remarks; I am eagerly waiting for more.

So, what can we actually expect for next Wednesday, when the next three episodes come online?

This is what we can expect

Anyone who thought that the biggest drama of Love Is Blind: Netherlands was behind us after the pods will probably be disappointed by the next episodes on Wednesday. In the first five episodes, we saw the participants find each other, doubt, get engaged, and finally meet in person for the first time. But now that the couples are getting to know each other better, the rose-colored glasses seem to be slowly coming off for some couples.

Real love for Mika and Jurriaan

The most talked-about couple still remains Mika and Jurriaan. After Jurriaan's unfortunate comments about skin color, their relationship seemed to be at a crucial point for a moment. Nevertheless, Mika chose to give him a chance and the two entered the love experiment together.

In Zanzibar, it seems to be going surprisingly well. There is attraction, they seek each other out, and among the couples, they seem to be relatively stable for now.

The big question for them on Wednesday is: will this hold? Because being in love on vacation is one thing. Making choices together, dealing with other attractive singles, and ultimately thinking about marriage is something entirely different. In the preview, we see the two moving in together and I am curious about how they will do this. My prediction is that everything is going to be just fine with those two.

Jealousy with Jaslynn and Ludo

With Jaslynn and Ludo, things are slowly getting out of hand. While Ludo easily connects with Meinou and talks about their connection (call it flirting or not), Jaslynn seems to be increasingly uncomfortable with it. Even though Ludo affirms to Jaslynn that he is with her, you can clearly see the doubts in her eyes. Jaslynn is quite eager to have children, but Ludo wants to first figure out if she is the one for him.

The question is how much trust remains between the two after the vacation turned into a real relationship test. Will Jaslynn be able to control her jealousy and will they overcome their differences, or will this be the beginning of the end for their engagement?

Not everyone seems ready for marriage

Also with the other couples, it becomes clear on Wednesday that an engagement is far from a guarantee for marriage. For example, Mirella and Gino have a difference in the intensity with which they experience their relationship. While Mirella seems to want to take bigger steps, Gino needs a bit more time. She is gradually getting annoyed by how little physical contact he seeks. This is, of course, a very important factor in a relationship, so will they also hold on? I still have my doubts about that.

With Yasemin and Roël, some doubts arise during the vacation in Zanzibar. And I can say, those doubts do not lie with Roël. Yasemin indicated that she does not feel the physical attraction. In episode four, they decide to put an end to it.

But then comes the real juice. At the end of episode five, we see Yasemin walking towards a location in the Netherlands to go on a date with an old acquaintance. None other than Miguel, her other connection from the pods, walks in. With the prospect for next Wednesday, you can see that Miguel has something to tell Yasemin. I have many question marks about this, will the second chance for Miguel not be pursued?

And then we have Meinou and Marc-Vincent

And with Meinou and Marc-Vincent, it is becoming increasingly clear that the person you get to know in the pods can be quite different when you actually start living together. Everything seems to be peachy in sunny Zanzibar, until Meinou gets the jitters. Marc-Vincent has a tendency, in her eyes, to tell her what she should do, while she remains true to herself.

In the preview, we see that one has moved in with the other, and even with practical matters like setting up the Wi-Fi in the house, this can lead to some disagreements.

I'll pause here for a moment. This might be the most interesting aspect of the upcoming episodes: the participants can no longer fall back on the safe wall of the pods. And of course, that cannot happen if you want to stay in love face-to-face. Until now, the couples could mainly get to know each other during dates and conversations. Now they have to discover how they can function as a couple.

One thing seems certain: the honeymoon phase is over

If the first five episodes mainly revolved around “did I choose the right person?”, episodes 6 to 8 seem to focus on “can I be with this person?” And that is what they are going to figure out now.

Especially Mika and Jurriaan remain the most stable couple. They started their relationship with a small preference issue, but seem to have completely overcome that hurdle. At the same time, the couples that started off on paper as much less complicated are now wobbling quite a bit.

My prediction of what will happen

If I had to put my money on something now, I expect that Mika and Jurriaan will be one of the couples that stay together the longest for the time being. You can see in everything that those two are crazy about each other, and there hasn't been a negative atmosphere around them yet.

Mirella and Gino still seem to need some more time. Those two need to discover each other a lot more, without too much pressure being put on them (especially for Gino, I assume). Still, I expect their attraction to grow and we will definitely see some nice moments from this couple.

With Jaslynn and Ludo, I have much less confidence, let me say no confidence at all. Yes, sorry, but the combination of jealousy and their different needs seems to be taking its toll. I expect that they will clash quite a bit in the upcoming episodes.

And then the most remarkable couple, Meinou and Marc-Vincent. Honestly: I think their ideals are so far apart that the bomb will burst on its own. But still, they express that they are incredibly fond of each other. So this will remain as it is for a while, but I am very curious about what kind of aftermath that will have.

And last but not least, Yasemin and Miguel. This is really a work in progress that we haven't seen anything of yet, so that still needs to unfold. Whether this switch will be permanent…

On Wednesday, episodes 6 to 8 of Love is Blind: Netherlands will be released on Netflix and everything indicates that especially jealousy, insecurity, and the question of whether the choices made outside the pods will hold will play a major role. And I think all of the Netherlands will be sitting in front of the TV at exactly 9:00 AM tomorrow morning.
