MAFS Australia's Stella and Filip choose Croatia for their wedding

When Filip unexpectedly proposed to Stella during the Final Vows, it was exactly the bright spot we needed after a season full of arguments, bizarre drama, and relationship problems in Married at First Sight Australia 2026. In beautifully drone-filmed footage, we saw how Filip went down on one knee with the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge in the background. It started as an experiment but ended in Filip’s and Stella’s real engagement. Now they are finally sharing more details about their dream wedding in Croatia.

Stella and Filip want to get married in Croatia

The romantic conclusion of the 2026 season with this year's real engagement turns out to be the love story of Stella and Filip. The couple has now confirmed that they want to organize their wedding in Croatia, Filip's homeland.

According to Filip, that location feels perfect for both their families.

“Stella’s family from Lithuania can easily be there, and it also works well for my family in Europe,” he said.

For the couple, Croatia also holds enormous emotional value. Filip partly grew up there and wants to share that special connection with Stella on their big day.

Filip knew early on that Stella was ‘the one’

Filip mentioned in interviews that he quickly felt that Stella was special to him. During a week when the couple was temporarily apart, he spoke extensively with his parents about his feelings.

His parents, who have been together for forty years now, didn’t have to think long when Filip told them he might want to propose to Stella.

“My father immediately said: ‘Of course she is your person. If she isn’t, then who is?’,” Filip recounted.

According to him, his parents immediately saw that Stella brought out the best in him. And rightly so: I really think Stella is a very special woman.

Filip chose the engagement ring entirely based on feeling

Once Filip decided that he wanted to surprise Stella with a proposal during the Final Vows, the search for the perfect ring began.

“I know nothing about rings,” he admitted with a laugh. “I saw one and just thought: that’s the one.”

In the end, he chose an impressive elongated cushion cut diamond on a simple gold band. Stella later proudly showed the stunning ring on social media.

Stella initially thought it was a joke

Although we at home might have been surprised, Stella apparently was the most surprised of all. She later confessed that she initially thought Filip was joking.

“I thought he was tying his shoelace,” she said. “But then I suddenly realized that this was really happening.”

“I immediately started crying. It felt like the rest of the world disappeared for a moment.”

For Stella, the proposal meant extra because she often doubted during the experiment whether Filip was ready for a deep and serious commitment. Especially since he was also hesitant to say ‘I love you’ quickly. Maybe Filip wasn't a sprinter, where you see that they are not dead ends. Go Filip Go Stella.

When are Stella and Filip getting married?

Although they have not yet confirmed an official wedding date, Stella and Filip did reveal that they would like to get married around the first anniversary of their MAFS marriage. That would mean the wedding could possibly take place as early as July 2026.....
