Just a summary of all The Devil Wears Prada 2 merch madness

By
Last night it happened: the premiere of The Devil Wears Prada 2. And you couldn't escape it; or, as Madonna sings in the movie's soundtrack: “it’s everywhere that you go”. This also applies to everything around it. As we already saw with Wicked, there is an almost endless amount of merch possible for these kinds of mega blockbusters (think of the Great Value green or pink mac and cheese). This is the complete merch frenzy of the new film in a row.

Starbucks

With how hard the employees of Runway work, a cup of coffee is no luxury. Starbucks was already part of the first film; we know how Miranda is without her morning cup. And now we know what her standard order is, just like that of the other main characters, and we can now order that too.

  • Miranda’s standard order: a latte without foam, with an extra shot of espresso and extra milk, made with skim milk.
  • Andy’s cappuccino: a cappuccino with oat milk, caramel, and cinnamon.
  • Nigel’s go-to doppio: a doppio espresso con panna with mocha.
  • Emily’s favorite iced chai: an iced chai latte with almond milk and caramel.

Pull & Bear

To continue the coffee theme: Pull & Bear came out with a whole collection leading up to the film, including a shirt with the quote: “Is there some reason my coffee isn’t here?”. Other favorites among the simple white tees are “Florals? For spring” with “Groundbreaking” on the back. There’s also a nod in the collection to the red heel from the poster. Curious if Miranda would give you a devastating “That’s all” in response, or not.

RE\/DONE

RE\/DONE also teamed up with Disney to release a number of shirts featuring Priestly’s most famous quotes. These are just less oversized and are a bit more expensive.

Target

Target keeps it simple: logos on tops. There’s a sweater with The Devil Wears Prada 2 logo on the chest and a red heel on the sleeve. Groundbreaking.

Old Navy

Old Navy used the cerulean scene as inspiration and released an almost identical piece. This one just has a red heel on the chest. Ironic that the sweater that was harshly criticized in the first film is now being sold widely. Besides the sweater, they have a collection with clothing items like T-shirts, hoodies, caps, and bags.

Walmart

Walmart is also in on it and came out with items inspired by the film, but at a more affordable price. The collection includes various items, but among the favorites is a midi skirt with long fringes in red and black. Definitely chic.

Tweezerman

This brand comes with a five-piece set in The Devil Wears Prada theme; because even your beauty tools need to be on theme. The set consists of a Classic Slant Tweezer, Mini Slant Tweezer, Classic Lash Curler, three professional nail files, and a Combo Clipper Set. Everything features illustrations of NYC, heels, handbags, and makeup brushes: everything that characterizes the film.

Lulus

Of course, you’re not just going to watch this film; you show up in style. There’s a good chance you’ll be surrounded by fashion lovers in red plush seats, so your outfit needs to be on point. The dresses from Lulus help with that. There’s a maxi dress full of studs (think back to the Valentino heels from the trailer) in a shade that suspiciously resembles cerulean. And with spring in full swing, a floral dress cannot be missing from this collection of fourteen evening dresses.

TRESemmé

As the official hair brand of the film, TRESemmé is releasing special products for the film. With the “Groundbreaking” Workable Hairspray, a “Runway Ready” Lacquer Shine Spray, and a “That’s All” Dry Texturizing Spray, your hair can look like that of the returning stars.

Tangle Teezer

To complete your hair look, there’s also a brush in TDWP style. This has the fire red color we recognize and a glossy finish. In the promo, the brush is held up by someone wearing black gloves and a tweed jacket. The mysterious lady could very well be the editor in chief of Runway.

Gray Goose

If Miranda were a cocktail, she would certainly not be a sugary drink with a little umbrella in it, at most a dry martini. Gray Goose agrees and developed the ‘That’s All’ martini. Additionally, they’ve come up with four more snacks featuring their vodka:

  • The Devil’s Roast (an espresso martini)
  • The Scarlet Step (an aperitif)
  • The Cerulean Goose (a citrus cocktail)
  • The Groundbreaking Spring Spritz (a summer aperitif)

Simple Modern

To successfully sneak those cocktails into the theater, you need a drink cup. Simple Modern combined two big trends; polka dots and TDWP. It’s a cup with a handle that holds no less than 1.2 liters of cocktail. Maybe water is a safer choice after all. The bottle also features icons of lipstick, heels, bags, and the logo.

The marketing teams were working overtime

These are just the brands selling products with the name The Devil Wears Prada 2 attached to them. There was also a long list of campaigns inspired by the new film. For example, L’Oréal did a campaign with Kendall Jenner and Simone Ashley where they reenacted Andy’s job interview. Diet Coke also did a campaign with a silver bag inspired by the film, but unfortunately, this is not for sale. Smartwater did a giveaway with tickets and the blue cable knit. And so the promo around the highly anticipated film could go on for a while.

So you could arrange your whole life around The Devil Wears Prada 2. You start at Starbucks with Miranda’s order, your outfit comes from Pull & Bear or Lulu’s, and to top it off, you walk around with the Simple Modern tumbler. Then just hope that the second one is just as good as the first.
