Something extra to get through the winter

3 X POWER SUPPLEMENTS

The transition from autumn to winter is not always chill and it always takes a while before I have fully surrendered to it. I always try to step on my bike for as long as possible with my leather jacket on, only to be really annoyed that I didn't wear something warmer. And of course, I do exactly the same thing the next day. Here at the editorial office, Lies and I are wrapped up all day in thick scarves, but we walk outside in a flimsy pantyhose. Stupid, but we still do it.

And then that winter blues comes knocking every year. Planning a lot of fun things in December and January is a good remedy, but in terms of nutrition, you can also change a few things in winter to feel good. Besides eating healthy (and especially staying nice and warm on these cold days), you can take these supplements. You will feel less cold, more energetic, and your mood will also be lifted a bit.

Multivitamins

I have always been an advocate for multivitamins. Actually, this is good for the whole year, but especially important in winter. Even if you eat very healthy, it's good to supplement any deficiencies in your body and build a reserve, so that if you eat a little less well one day, you still get your right amounts of vitamins and minerals. One multi is not the same as another, so check the packaging carefully for what is included. It is important that the packaging states that it is an optimally absorbable multi like this.

Omega-3

Fish oil contains fatty acids that your body really needs every day. Omega-3 is also found in flaxseed, walnuts, and green leafy vegetables, but I also take a fish oil capsule every morning for an optimal daily dose. Check the bottle (for example this) to see if it contains the fatty acids EPA and DHA, as they work best for the brain, heart, and blood vessels.

Omega is a healthy fat and it keeps blood sugar levels stable (therefore reduces sugar cravings and desire for sweets AND you stay full for a long time). Fish oil also helps with fat burning in the muscles.

Vitamine D3

I learned this from health coach Tessa She does not believe in winter blues, because then you simply have vitamin D3 deficiency. In summer, you get that from the sun, but that is of course hard to find now. This vitamin is important for fat-soluble absorption, strong bones and teeth, and for your morning mood. You don't have that anymore.
