7 REASONS WHY BEING AT HOME IS GREAT FOR YOUR BEAUTY RITUAL
I am a beauty editor and even on vacation, I definitely keep a spy eye on the latest gadgets and the finest products. Although my beauty ritual looks quite different than at home. Before the vacation, I definitely get everything waxed, scrub myself from head to toe, have my nails freshly painted, and my brows dyed. But after that, the fun is over. On vacation, there's no paint on my face, I don't curl my lashes, and I can't really worry about chipped nail polish. And now I'm back home. I can tell you that it's really nice. And here's why.
The choice is huge
You no longer have to live out of your toiletry bag, but have a range of beauty products right in front of you. Multiple scents, good shampoos, hair masks, scrubs, oils, and all those creams in full-size packaging that make you go wild with applying. What might have felt like too much before is now really nice to come home to.
With these Siberian temperatures, I prefer to stand under the shower for hours. Unfortunately, this is exactly what you SHOULD NOT do. The warmer the water (and I can tell you, setting 40 is common), the sadder your skin becomes. So shower a maximum of once a day, not too hot, and pat your skin dry with a soft towel.
Sure, those outdoor showers at safari parks are fun, because we really spotted elephants under the shower, but you can never count on warm water. It's either way too hot or way too cold, and there's nothing in between. At home, on the other hand, you can stand under the shower for hours and it just feels nice. You understand that I did that on the first day.
Good light
You have good light again to do your makeup or to pluck your eyebrows. Not that this was my biggest problem on vacation (because I didn't do anything makeup-wise), but the moment I wanted to pluck a hair, it was a bit of a search for a good mirror and good light.
Hairdryer
After three weeks, you miss a hairdryer. A straightener. A curling iron. Or any device to tame your hair a bit. The wind does give it a nice beach look, but you also want to go out without wild hair.
Mask
Your hair has become a bit drier on vacation anyway, and your skin also comes home in the fall. So a mask is nice. For your hair, for your skin. All those luxury items that you probably don't take on vacation, but that are waiting for you upon your return.
Makeup moves
One of the reasons I don't wear makeup during vacation is that it goes all over the place. The heat does something to you, right? You can solve it with the necessary fixers and setting sprays, but those obviously don't fit in the suitcase. At home, you probably don't have that problem. First of all, it's abnormally cold here, so you don't have to deal with sweat and hassle, and secondly, all those setting sprays are just in your cabinet. Problem solved.
You can let perfection go
Sounds a bit strange, but if you're the type to shave, you might not have to worry as much. You no longer have to take the razor out of the bag every morning to touch up, because you're just wearing long pants, long sweaters, and no one sees that bush-bush.
