7 ways to go from dollhouse to palace

Because I live in a dollhouse, where the bathroom is the size of a postage stamp and the balcony is no bigger than the average plant pot, I've become quite handy at making the magic wand swirl. A little painting and a little shifting already works wonders. I'm going to tell you, because you too can perform wonders with just a little effort.

Keep it light

Light colors work well to make the space appear visually larger. Not that you can suddenly fit more in, but it does work very nicely in terms of sight. So try to work as much as possible with white. If you find it too boring, you can combine it with very light colors like soft pink and mint green. Try to avoid soft yellow, as it can come off as not very fresh. A floor in a light color also always works very well. White works fine anyway, but if you find that a bit too intense, a light wood color is also nice.

Light sources

As soon as it even slightly dims outside, I immediately turn on all the lights. Because it's cozy, but also because it makes the house lighter again. Choose different light sources, as they enhance each other and the light comes from different angles.

Mirrors

No subtle mirrors, but really large mirrors. This way, a part of the room is reflected and the space appears even larger. Of course, you shouldn't place a completely full cabinet or laundry basket in front of it, but rather a table with white chairs or a balcony full of beautiful plants.

A tidy space is a nice space

I am a big advocate of letter boxes and display cabinets, the only problem is that it can look very messy. Try to create a good mix. Not everything needs to be hidden behind a door, but no one is happy with administration and clutter. Only give truly cool items space and make a rough choice in that. It makes it less distracting.

Two in one

If you don't have much space, you need to be economical with it. Think American; 2-in-1 is so much easier. A cabinet folds out into a bed and a mirror turns out to be a cabinet as well. Pay a visit to IKEA, because they are masters in 2-in-1 solutions.

Multiple spaces

Ideally, you want to make use of the entire space in a small area, but you can also hang a curtain or place a wide cabinet. It may seem a bit strange, but it makes your room look larger. You actually create multiple spaces in one, and that works well.

Furniture pieces

It quickly becomes exciting to place a large object in a small space. It doesn't have to be too exciting. Better one large object than a hundred small ones. Otherwise, you're really just mimicking a puppet show. A large plant always works very well or a beautiful lampshade, that can work too. When placing your furniture, it's best to set everything a few centimeters away from the wall. They always do that in chic large houses, so why not you? It also looks a bit larger.
